Chapter 242: Aftermath
Blaze’s pov
I held him tightly, stroking his hair and consoling him with everything in me. He clung to me tightly, trembling and crying his eyes out. This was the mate I knew, the one my wolf was smitten with, the one who pulled me in from a single glance.
The confident, ruthless labyrinth who had just killed someone was nowhere in sight. In his place was my meek mate, the one who I was already falling in love with.
I had a feeling that ruthless part of him was still inside of him, waiting to be unleashed again. I silently wondered if it would make me a bad mate if I still wanted him to let out that part of himself again, not right now, but definitely later.
Right now, I was more concerned with getting him to stop crying. I wasn’t sure he remembered all that just happened some minutes ago, how he managed to unlock his powers by himself like I always believed he would.
If he still remembered, he gave no indication. He only continued to cry while blaming himself for Elio’s death. It was clear that he genuinely liked that kid because the guilt was clear in his voice as he lamented and blamed himself over and over again.
I could see Kim motioning Roy over. He was kneeling beside Kim, carefully regarding him and probably checking to confirm if he was indeed dead. He and Roy were being as silent as possible, clearly because they didn’t want to startle labyrinth. I knew they were extremely confused about all that they had witnessed today, which was honestly expected in this situation.
"Blaze?" Roy’s voice called out and I glanced over at him. He pointed at Elio’s body as he spoke.
"He’s still breathing."
