Chapter 40: No Other Options
Jules’ pov
Immense shock coursed through my entire body as those words reechoed in my head over and over again. I found myself blinking a couple of times in disbelief.
A murmur went through the crowd which slowly parted until everyone was staring at me.
Color flooded my cheeks at once and I stiffened up at once underneath the sudden attention. They were all staring at me with shock and confusion on their faces, it was clear that neither of them had expected me of all people to be selected by Blaze.
Even I myself didn’t expect to be picked!
Dread gathered in my stomach as the class head began to speak after awkwardly clearing his throat.
"That’s settled then. The rest of the first set of students who arrived here, are gonna select their respectful roommates as well."
The rest of the students turned away after that, but a few of them were still throwing me curious glances. I could see blatant curiosity on some faces, and stark pity on others.
My heart was pounding against my chest so hard that I felt like it was gonna suddenly stop working. When I glanced up at the balcony, I realized that Blaze wasn’t there any longer.
With wide, panicked eyes, I turned towards a pale looking Taylor to grip his hands.
"What am I gonna do?!" I cried out as more fright consumed me inside. Taylor looked as stricken as I was currently feeling. For the first time, it looks like he was out of something to say.
