He vividly remembered how Director Zhang had been arrogant and presumptuous in the office, treating him like nothing; yet now, he was apologizing so respectfully and humbly. This made him doubt whether the man before him was really Zhang Baifa.
"Director Zhang... what’s going on with you? Why are you suddenly apologizing to me?" Lu Jinyuan asked tentatively.
Zhang Baifa became even more servile, lowering his head and saying, "Director Lu, please don’t make fun of me. I truly didn’t know Qingfan Pharmaceuticals had such a close connection with our chamber’s chairman. Had I known, I would have never treated you in such a manner, even if it killed me."
"Our chairman has ordered me, and if I don’t receive your forgiveness, I will be suspended immediately. I beg for a chance from Director Lu!"
Lu Jinyuan looked perplexed and turned to Chen Fan.
Chen Fan just smiled and said nothing.
Lu Jinyuan understood immediately; it all must have been because of the phone call Chen Fan made earlier!
When Zhang Baifa mentioned the close ties between Qingfan Pharmaceuticals and the Tianyuan Commerce Chamber chairman, he must have been referring to Chen Fan’s relationship with the chairman!
