Chapter 83: He was hiding an affair?

Riya stood there, numb, watching them with rising frustration.

They looked too comfortable, too at peace. As though... they had patched things up. For a moment, they looked like a perfect family of three, happy together.

Riya watched them with disbelief, which soon transformed into raw rage. She had never once had she seen Nathaniel out for dinner with Zara in the past five years. He was always buried in work, detached, unreachable. But now, he looked so relaxed with Zara, even smiling at her.

What was going on?

Jealousy flared in her chest. She had worked hard to turn them against each other, planting seeds of doubt, pushing wedges, doing everything to keep them apart. But it looked like her efforts were not enough.

’No,’ Riya told herself, scowling. ’This can’t be real. Nathaniel doesn’t love Zara. He made up his mind to leave her. This must be sympathy. That’s it. He just feels sorry for her for what she has gone through lately. He’ll get rid of her soon.’

This conclusion brought her some comfort. "Yes," she whispered under her breath. "It’s only a pity. That’s all it is."

Even though she tried to convince herself by thinking that way, she couldn’t watch them together. Forgetting about her impending meeting with the client, she marched toward the table.

"Hey, wait. Where are you going?" the manager asked, grabbing her arm. "We are already late. The client must be waiting for us. We need to go."

"Cancel it," Riya said flatly, brushing off her hand. "There is something more important I need to deal with."

Her manager tugged at her arm and held Riya in her place. "Are you serious right now? What are you planning to do?"
