The moment he set his bowl down, they appeared eager to force the medicine down his throat themselves, leaving Xia Zheng no choice but to pinch his nose and down it all in one breath!
It wasn’t until later that Xia Zheng accidentally learned from Lady Liu that the whole incident had been Lin Yuan’s handiwork. She had told the family that Xia Zheng detested taking medicine and often stealthily spit it out into flowerpots. Since neither Lady Liu nor Lin Jiaxin had ever witnessed Xia Zheng taking his medicine, they believed her, and rallied the family to supervise him.
Xia Zheng was truly furious. Granted, he had intentionally used that stinky shoe for revenge, but that didn’t justify being treated so unfairly!
