The family of three had enjoyed a long-missed harmonious dinner together, and as night fell, a small incident occurred.
"I want to sleep with Mommy!" Little Niangao stood steadfastly by the side of the master bedroom’s large bed, clinging to his little pillow.
Shen Chi was mentally plotting how to devour Lin Xiaoguai, naturally unwilling to have an extra glaring little light bulb around. Little Niangao was no longer an infant; if he were to wake up in the middle of the night because of their movements... Just the thought of that scenario made Shen Chi’s teeth ache.
"Little Niangao, didn’t you say you were a little man? Little men should sleep by themselves," Shen Chi coaxed.
"But I miss Mommy," Little Niangao said with tearful eyes, "And Dad, you’re a big man, but you still sleep with Mommy every day."
Shen Chi choked, "Can that be the same? Your mom is my wife, men are supposed to sleep with their wives."
"Then Mommy, you be my wife instead; don’t be Daddy’s wife anymore." Little Niangao didn’t hesitate and threw himself in front of Lin Xiaoguai.
Shen Chi’s face immediately darkened. Was this an example of internal thieves being the hardest to guard against? He had resisted so many outsiders trying to steal his woman, but he hadn’t guarded against this little ’inside thief.’
Seeing Shen Chi’s frustration, Lin Xiaoguai couldn’t help but laugh until Shen Chi could hardly keep his composure, then gracefully picked up her son and said, "Let Little Niangao sleep with us."
She missed her son too, and as for the thing Shen Chi was so eager about, she, as a woman, wasn’t as keen on it as Shen Chi was.
