Chapter 12: The Engagement Ceremony
Morning of the engagement ceremony. Time had passed, and the day had finally arrived.
“Haa...”
Even compared to recent days, the weather was remarkably clear, but after staying up nearly all night in the office for several days straight, I could only sigh heavily in a gloomy mood.
I’m screwed.
The engagement ceremony had come much sooner than expected, and there was far too little time left to prepare.
Sure, someone might say: “You know how the original game unfolds, so what’s there to worry about?” But in Blacktail Fantasy 3, the prologue changes depending on which scenario and player character is chosen.
That’s why I needed to at least secure Bergen—the information broker—and, based on the intel he would uncover, devise a detailed plan with Parsha.
But maybe because of Alfred, or maybe because of something else, it wasn’t as simple as just knowing Bergen’s whereabouts. Unlike Parsha, who seemed to have taken quite a liking to me, Bergen wasn’t someone I could approach immediately.
His situation didn’t seem ordinary, and with the time I had left, it just wasn’t enough to do anything meaningful.
Which meant I had no choice but to dive into the prologue headfirst—with no intel and surrounded by unpredictable variables.
Maybe I should say I’m sick and skip it...
To be fair, it wouldn’t be a complete lie—my head was pounding and my whole body ached from lack of sleep.
