Chapter 1380 - 642: Female Corpse
Linda's house.
Almost at the same time.
The little chubby guy turned on the TV and started watching the NBA live broadcast.
There were also fried chicken and Coke placed on the table in front of him.
If it were in the past, Linda might not have let him eat these, but the heartbroken little chubby guy didn't care.
"Who says you have to be at the scene to watch the game? I can do it here just the same." The little chubby guy snorted, opened the Coke bottle, and poured it into the glass with ice cubes.
He took a big gulp of Coke and bit into a chicken leg, satisfied.
With the blessing of food, the pain of heartbreak was slightly alleviated.
Suddenly, the TV camera switched, and he saw two familiar figures.
Jack rubbed his eyes with his plump hand, "I must be seeing things, my mind is full of her.
I'm really a ridiculous fool.
Wait, fantasizing about Maggie is normal, but why is my idiot brother there too?"
"Bang!" The little chubby guy suddenly stood up, "Maggie, Maggie went to watch the game."
The little chubby guy was full of regret, with a feeling of missing out on the lottery jackpot.
"Maggie!"
...
November 16th.
Robbery and Murder Department, Squad One Office.
In the morning, the little black guy wandered around the office like a street punk with a cup of coffee in hand.
"Port, Raymond, why are you both wearing black jackets? It's like you're dressed as a couple."
"Jackson, can I borrow a lighter from you?"
"Don't even think about it." Jackson rejected firmly.
"Why? It's just a lighter."
Jackson sneered, "True, a lighter isn't much, but I can't remember how many you've borrowed and never returned."
"Hey, we're colleagues, there's no need to be so petty." The little black guy shrugged, sitting on the table, addressing everyone, "I recently discovered a great restaurant; how about a dinner party tonight?"
After solving the case of Gallian Coffey's murder, Squad One and Squad Two received a handsome reward, and now team funds are ample.
The Deputy Captain curled his lips, "Give me a break; I'm not interested in the restaurant you recommend.
The Indian restaurant you found last time tasted like crap."
The little black guy looked innocent, "Isn't that how all Indian food is? But it tastes pretty good, doesn't it?"
The Deputy Captain snorted, "Except for the curry flavor, I don't remember any other taste."
"This time, I found a Mexican restaurant; I guarantee the taste will be great." The little black guy promised confidently.
Raymond looked up from cleaning his pistol, "I don't think we need your help finding a Mexican restaurant; you might ruin the reputation of Mexican cuisine entirely."
"Is that what you guys think of me, huh?" The little black guy's tone was somewhat dissatisfied.
The Deputy Captain suggested, "Buddy, if I were you, I'd zip my lips and seriously look at the files on the table."
The little black guy muttered, "Your suggestion isn't much better than Indian food."
The Deputy Captain glared, "I didn't hear you, what did you say?"
Just as the atmosphere was getting tense, the office door was pushed open from the outside, and Luke walked in, "Guys, what are you talking about that's so lively?"
The little black guy said, "Nothing, it's boring."
"Then let me find you something to do." Luke glanced at his watch, "There's a new case; gather downstairs in five minutes."
"Yes, sir."
"I'd rather investigate a case than deal with you boring guys." The little black guy rolled his eyes, caught up with Luke and asked, "Captain, what case is it?"
"A body was found near Marshall Street."
Half an hour later, Luke led the team to Marshall Street.
At the entrance to the alley on the east side of Marshall Street, a police line was set up, with several police cars parked around, and the old rookie John stood outside the police line, greeting Luke's team as they approached, "Hi, Luke."
"Buddy, good to see you." Luke shook hands with him.
"Same here.
But it would be better if it were in a different place." John said lamentingly.
"Tell us about the scene."
John nodded, leading Luke into the scene, "We received a call from a cleaner who said he found a body while cleaning garbage.
We came to check, and sure enough, we saw a female corpse in the trash bin.
She isn't very old... probably still a child." John sighed, "Though I've seen quite a few corpses, this scene is still unsettling."
Luke patted his shoulder, "I understand.
You stay outside; we'll take care of this."
The little black guy stepped forward, whispering, "Feels like this buddy is about to cry."
Jackson said, "You're exaggerating, you shouldn't mock a kind person."
The little black guy pouted, "I'm a kind person too, but you've never noticed."
The Deputy Captain laughed, "Don't be so stingy; we're just engaging in 'loving banter'."
Luke walked to the trash bin, seeing a pair of white pale legs and feet sticking out, a faint stench permeating the air, and it was unclear if it was from garbage or the corpse.
Luke looked into the trash bin; the body seemed to have been discarded butt-first into the bin, head tilting upward, showing no sign of blood, with large blue eyes staring blankly at the sky, hair scattered, no clothes or identifying items on the body.
Based on Luke's experience, the girl wasn't very old, probably not an adult.
The corpse showed no obvious signs of decay, with the time of death likely within 24 hours. Additionally, given the conspicuous way the body was discarded, the disposal time wouldn't be too long, probably last night.
Luke's gaze swept around, this location was somewhat isolated, and no cameras were found, "Raymond, take a look around for surveillance.
Port, you lead people to canvass the area, ask if they saw any suspicious persons last night."
"Got it, Captain."
The forensic doctor and technical team arrived, and Luke handed the scene over to them.
Squad One gathered together.
Jenny looked sad, "She's just a kid...
I'll check the missing persons list."
Luke nodded, saying to the little black guy beside him, "Find the person who reported it; we need to talk to them."
"No problem."
After watching the two leave, the Deputy Captain said, "The victim had no items on her body, nor were there items that might belong to her around, indicating the killer deliberately separated the body from the victim's belongings.
Let's bring in a police dog, maybe we can track some clues."
"Good idea, do as you suggest."
Soon, the little black guy brought over a white man in a blue cleaner's uniform.
Luke scrutinized him, asking, "Buddy, what's your name?"
"Tommy."
"You found the body?"
"That's right.
I'm responsible for collecting the garbage in this area.
I drove over with the garbage truck as usual, and then I saw two legs sticking out of a trash can. At first, I thought someone had dumped their inflatable doll.
But when I got closer, it was a real corpse. It was a terrible feeling."
"Do you know the deceased?"
"I don't."
"What time did you discover the body?"
"Around eight o'clock."
"Was there anyone else around at the time?"
"No."
"Did you disturb any items around the body?"
"No, I didn't want any trouble.
I assure you there were no items on the body."
"Is it common for people to discard inflatable dolls around here?"
Tommy thought for a moment, "Occasionally, I've come across it two or three times."
"Thank you, Tommy." Luke handed him a business card, "If you think of any leads, you can contact me."
"I will."
Half an hour later, forensic doctor Hila came over with a grave expression, saying, "I've completed the preliminary autopsy.
The deceased is a female, or rather a girl, between fifteen and seventeen years old.
Caucasian, about 1.67 meters tall. The time of death should be between nine and twelve o'clock last night.
She had binding marks before death, and it appears her mouth and nose were obstructed, leading to asphyxiation.
Additionally, there are tears beneath her body, likely assaulted post-mortem."
Luke asked, "Can you identify the specific object that caused her death?"
"Not yet, I need to return to the station to examine the residues in her mouth and nostrils closely for any clues."
"Did the killer leave any DNA?"
"We can't confirm yet. That requires further inspection back at the station."
"OK, I'll check in with you later."
Little Black shook his head and sighed, "To do such a thing to a minor, the killer is definitely a monster."
Luke said, "The killer's method doesn't seem like a first-time operation. Check if any similar offenders have recently been released."
The deputy team leader said, "Leave it to me. I've long wanted to sort out these bastards."
"Woof woof..."
A dog barked from not far away.
Luke turned his head and saw a dog handler approaching with a police dog.
It was a bloodhound, with long floppy ears and a powerful neck, its black and yellow fur making it look quite adorable.
The dog handler greeted, "Captain Lee, anything we can assist with?"
Luke said, "We found a corpse but not any personal belongings, so we suspect the killer might have discarded the victim's items elsewhere.
We hope the police dog can help locate them."
"Do you have a scent source?"
"Would the victim's hair work?"
The dog handler thought for a moment, "It's worth a try."
Luke found forensic doctor Hila and took some of the victim's hair to the dog handler.
The dog handler held the hair near the dog's nose, allowing it to sniff, then gave a command; the bloodhound trotted off.
To avoid interfering with the dog's work, the officers cleared the way ahead. Despite this, a number of onlookers gathered.
Luke and the officers followed behind the police dog.
The dog searched along the roadside, running a few steps, then stopped to sniff the surroundings.
Tents of homeless people lined both sides of the sidewalk, in red, green, blue, and various colors.
To prevent distracting smells from confusing the police dog, the handler periodically presented the scent source for the dog to sniff again.
After a while, the dog's pace slowed, stopping in front of a green tent, barking, "Woof woof..."
The handler called out to Luke behind him, "Captain Lee, there's something here."
Luke approached the green tent and asked, "Hello, is anyone in the tent?"
There was silence.
Little Black chuckled, "That's not how you do it. Watch me." He walked a bit further away and shouted, "Is there anyone who wants free beer? If you do, come and get it quickly."
As soon as he finished speaking, the green tent in front of Luke opened, and a shaggy-haired, bearded white man exclaimed, "Where's the beer? I want some."
Seeing Luke and the others, he paused, "You don't look like 'philanthropists' giving out free beer."
Then he retreated back into the tent.
Luke said, "Good morning, sir."
"Not good at all, I've only slept less than three hours and got woken up by you lot, and with deceit too.
If you really care for me, stay away from my tent."
"Sir, I have a few questions I'd like to ask you."
"Figures, nothing good comes from this."
Little Black came out of a convenience store carrying a pack of beer, "Why wouldn't there be anything good? Just answer our questions, and this beer is yours."
"Are you serious?" The homeless man emerged from the tent again, swallowing hard.
Little Black opened the pack of beer and tossed him a can, "I never lie."
The homeless man caught the beer, popped it open, and took a long swig, "For the sake of the beer, ask away."
"What's your name?"
"Boga Jay.
Yes, that should be it, but it's been ages since someone called me by that name."
Luke produced a photo of the victim, "Do you recognize her?"
Boga Jay took the photo, "Pretty girl, just looks a bit worn out, eyes lifeless..."
"She's deceased."
Boga Jay quickly returned the photo to Luke, "I've never seen her."
Luke glanced towards the inside of the tent, "Some of her belongings are missing, have you seen them?"
Boga Jay shook his head, standing at the tent entrance, "I don't have what you're looking for, you've come to the wrong place."
"Do you like wearing lace nightgowns?"
"No, only women wear those things, I prefer sleeping naked."
Luke pointed to a corner of the tent, "So that nightgown isn't yours."
