Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 1375 - 638: Motive (3)

A black youth's sister was forced into a relationship by her boss. To support her family, she had to maintain this relationship, eventually leading to her suicide after the boss's wife found out.

The boss's wife also went around defaming the black youth's sister, making the youth very angry. He believed the boss and his wife were responsible for his sister's death, and he wanted revenge.

A Chinese youth had a similar encounter. His mother was killed in a hit-and-run by a white youth. However, due to various reasons, the law didn't punish the perpetrator, which left him furious, and he wanted to avenge his mother.

But he also knew that once the boss was killed, the police would definitely suspect him.

So, the two youths exchanged their targets, so that even if the police investigated, they would have alibis and exonerate themselves.

Little Black snapped his fingers, "Exchange murder.

This method of murder has been portrayed many times in films and dramas; it's not that ingenious."

Luke said, "That's true today, as technology makes it easy to find commonalities between the two cases and the murderers.

But that was forty years ago, and the two killers were smart, spacing the two cases by several months.

More coincidentally, one case was handled by the LAPD, the other by the FBI, treated as two independent cases in that less connected era.

And since there was no link between the two killers and the victims, solving the cases was increasingly challenging, eventually turning them into unsolved cases."

Luke paused for a moment, organized his thoughts, and continued, "Forty years later, the boss's son wanted to shoot a family documentary; perhaps under his mother's influence, he again defamed and vilified the boss's black female secretary.

And he intended to publicize it more widely through film and television.

Upon learning of this, the no longer young black man was fueled with suppressed anger and killed again."

Little Black summarized, "This explains why the fingerprints found at the scene of the Gallian Coffey murder matched those of a suspect in the Silver Cross case."

Luke said, "This is just my speculation, but theoretically, it makes sense."

"If Michael Kamara is indeed the murderer, wouldn't he be pretending to be ill?"

Luke thought for a moment, "I feel like he's not pretending."

"If he really is ill, and finds it hard to go outside, how would he know that Gallian Coffey was planning to shoot a documentary that defamed his sister?

And how would he have killed Gallian Coffey?"

"Those are two questions; I'll answer your first one.

Do you remember the black female assistant who just brought us the information?"

"Of course, is there something wrong?"

"I've seen her before."

"Where."

"To be precise, you've also seen her photo."

Little Black recalled carefully and widened his eyes, "The photo in Michael Kamara's living room, she's Michael Kamara's daughter!

No way, why would Michael Kamara's daughter be at the Coffey family company?"

Luke said, "Precisely, she worked at the Otway Film Company, but unfortunately, due to poor business, Otway Stone sold some of the film company's shares to the Coffey Group."

Michael Kamara, Michael's wife, Michael's daughter?

Little Black instinctively asked, "Who is the murderer after all?"

Luke shook his head, "No matter who it is, we currently don't have enough evidence to prove who the murderer is."

"Do you have any good ideas?"

"Keep an eye on the Kamara family, as long as the Coffey family's documentary continues filming, they won't just sit by and watch."
