Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 1281 - 565: Tit for Tat

Puhuike Investment Company is located in a five-story office building in downtown Los Angeles.

The first to fourth floors of the office building are used for office work, and the west side of the fifth floor houses a gym where employees go for workouts during breaks.

It's still work hours now, so the gym is quite empty, with only a white man running on a treadmill with headphones on.

While running, the white man seems to be having a conversation with someone, "Hey buddy, long time no see, how about a bet sometime? I've been itching for one lately.

Haha, I did make a little money recently.

It's not foresight, just after thorough understanding and investigation.

No no no, now's not the time to buy in, I think the price can go lower…"

Just then, a tall white female secretary walked in, "Boss, there's something that needs to interrupt you."

The white man glanced at the female secretary, "I have something to deal with, let's talk later."

He turned off the headphone call and stopped the treadmill, asking, "What's going on?"

"There are police outside."

"Police?" The white man reached for his towel but withdrew his hand.

"Yes."

He sat on the treadmill, pulled out a cigarette, "What are they here for?"

"They said they want your assistance with an investigation case. I asked for specifics, and they wouldn't say."

The white man held the cigarette, not lighting it, tapped it in his palm, "Just say I'm not here, tell them to come back later..."

Before the white man finished speaking, a voice sounded outside.

"Hey, the gym equipment here is nice.

Being able to work out during office hours, I like this company." said a loud guy entering, "Hi, isn't that the pretty secretary?

Do you like working out too? We can meet up sometime to share fitness tips."

The white man frowned, "Who let you in, get out." ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ ⓝovelFire.net

"Whoa, no need to get angry!" The loud guy stared at the white man, "You must be Lennon Ochoa.

I've seen your photos before.

Actually, I'm here looking for you."

"Are you a cop?" Looking at the cheeky grin of the other, the white man found it hard to associate him with law enforcement.

The loud guy showed his badge, "Robbery and Murder Department, Detective Chief Marcus."

The white man stood up, shorter than the loud guy, half a head lower, but his shoulders were wide and solid, "Hello, Detective Chief. What do you need from me?"

"I want to invite you back to the police station for a chat."

"Sorry, I don't like chatting in unfamiliar environments with unfamiliar people.

If you really want to talk, you can find my lawyer."

The loud guy smirked, "You know, I'm really not fond of interacting with rich folks, it's not discrimination or jealousy.

But they always call lawyers, which is quite off-putting."

Lennon Ochoa chuckled, "I'm under no obligation to live in a way that a stranger likes.

So, either talk to my lawyer, or leave."

"I choose neither." The loud guy showed the arrest warrant, raising an eyebrow, "Will you walk with me yourself, or get handcuffed and publicly taken away?

Actually, I'm quite looking forward to the latter, showing your employees a different side of their boss."

...

Half an hour later.

Interrogation room at the Robbery and Murder Department.

Lennon Ochoa was brought into the interrogation room. He looked at the interrogation chair disdainfully, pulled out a handkerchief to wipe the chair before sitting down.

Luke observed him and asked, "What's your name?"

"Lennon Ochoa."

"Do you know why you were arrested?"

"No, and you don't need to ask anymore.

Until I see a lawyer, I won't say anything." Lennon Ochoa said, then started to rest with closed eyes.

Luke turned on the TV behind him, playing a video showing Lennon Ochoa and Thomas Colley plotting revenge against Kerman Pharmaceutical Company.

Lennon Ochoa's face darkened, his right hand fist clenched involuntarily.

The loud guy teased, "Haha, you look quite good on camera, I like the shirt you wore in the video, where'd you buy it?"

Lennon Ochoa pressed his left hand against his forehead, "Fuck, this bastard actually secretly filmed us!"

Luke said, "He not only filmed your transaction, but also identified you as the mastermind behind all the cases against Kerman Pharmaceutical Company.

That's why we arrested you."

Lennon Ochoa shook his head, "He's lying. What he said isn't true."

"Then why don't you tell us."

Lennon Ochoa glanced at his watch, "When will my lawyer get here?"

Luke countered, "Thomas Colley has already pointed you out, and provided the transaction video.

With such solid evidence, even if your lawyer arrives, what do you think he can do?

Clear your name?

No, now the only person who can help you is yourself, cooperate with the police for a favorable plea bargain."

Lennon Ochoa took a deep breath, "I still hope for my lawyer to be present."

Luke didn't say anything more, started looking through documents.

About ten minutes later, a knocking sound was heard outside the interrogation room, "Knock knock."

"Come in."

A grey-haired white man stood at the door, carrying a briefcase, "I am Gerard Magee, Mr. Lennon Ochoa's lawyer."

"Please come in."

Gerard Magee looked at Lennon Ochoa sitting in the interrogation chair and asked, "Mr. Lennon Ochoa, are you okay?"
