Chapter 1180 - 518: Case Closed
He didn't know that the so-called survivor was fake.
Actually, it's not that hard to figure out.
The Immune Body is Severo Joli's only lifeline, his hope for survival. Deep down, he didn't want to believe it was fake.
He was too involved in the situation, lacking an outsider's perspective, unable to see the truth clearly.
Severo Joli shook his left hand, "Hey, have you considered it enough? Are you letting me leave or do you want the whole hospital to be buried with me?"
Suddenly, a figure flashed past the bedside.
The reddish-skinned patient wearing a respirator sat up and grabbed Severo Joli's left hand.
"Bang bang bang..." Luke fired directly.
One shot hit his right arm, another hit his right shoulder.
"Ah..."
Severo Joli screamed, his body trembling with pain, his legs went weak, and he fell back, looking viciously at the patient beside him.
He wanted to let go and perish together.
But the opponent's strength was surprisingly strong, not at all like a patient.
"Fuck, you bastards tricked me. You'll die miserable deaths; you are the real beasts," Severo Joli cursed hysterically.
"I'm going to kill you.
I'm going to die with you." At this moment, Severo Joli finally understood that there was no such thing as a survivor.
It was impossible for him to develop a cure; it was all a sham from start to finish.
Severo Joli's mental state collapsed.
Armand Hains snatched the remote out of his hand.
Luke handcuffed him.
Actually, this plan wasn't very clever; the reason Severo Joli didn't see through the fake Immune Body was simply because his obsession was too strong, causing chaos in his thinking.
The gunshots caused brief commotion, quickly quelled by FBI agents lurking outside.
More FBI agents rushed into the ward.
Severo Joli was pinned down by the agents; his hands and feet were cuffed, his jaw dislocated and teeth checked to prevent suicide.
But Luke thought, given his strong survival instinct, suicide was unlikely.
Luke patted Armand Hains on the shoulder, "Nice acting."
Armand Hains smiled rarely, "First time someone praised me like that."
Initially, he was not satisfied with the task of pretending to be a patient; he felt like a mascot. Who knew that at the crucial moment, he scored a success, and it felt immediately different.
Due to Severo Joli's gun injuries, he was not immediately taken back to the FBI but was first treated for gunshot wounds at the hospital.
Considering Severo Joli's danger, FBI agents were always guarding nearby.
Once his condition stabilized, he was immediately escorted back to the FBI's Los Angeles office.
FBI interrogation room.
Severo Joli was shackled to the interrogation chair, perhaps due to the gunshot wounds; his red skin looked somewhat pale.
Luke and the assistant director of FBI, Lynn Brouss, were responsible for the interrogation.
Lynn Brouss opened her notebook and asked, "Name."
"Severo Joli."
He finished, then looked up, countering Lynn Brouss, "Who might you be?"
"Sorry, forgot to introduce myself, deputy director of the FBI's Los Angeles office, head of the anti-terrorism division, Lynn Brouss."
Severo Joli spread his hands, "Congratulations, now you can report success."
"Our aim isn't just you, but the terrorists behind you."
"You'll be disappointed; those guys are all hiding in the Middle East, out of the FBI's reach."
"That's not your concern; you just need to tell us everything you know."
"Why should I tell you? If I tell you, do I get to live?" Severo Joli let out a cold laugh, self-describing, "Your methods are useless on someone like me; I might die of illness before reaching the courthouse.
I know my health well, your concocted Immune Body was my only hope.
You guys are real bastards; do you know how cruel your actions were?"
"You used biological weapons to kill nearly a hundred people; what right do you have to talk about cruelty in front of us?" Lynn Brouss stood up, walking to Severo Joli's side, "Why don't we make a deal? Tell us everything you know, and I promise you can spend your last days peacefully."
"What if the deal doesn't happen? Will you kill me immediately?"
"Stop dreaming; you'll find it impossible to die when we want you alive. We have our methods against you, and they might even involve your family."
"I wasn't wrong; you really are despicable."
"No need for pleasantries with scum like you. If you really aren't afraid to die, I might have no options, but cowardly people like you won't survive FBI interrogation. Instead of enduring torture, better speak up."
Severo Joli glared at Lynn Brouss, "You're really straightforward."
"You're not an ordinary criminal but a unrepentant terrorist. Even if I tear you apart, no one will hold me accountable."
Although Lynn Brouss's tone was calm, Severo Joli knew she was sincere; he had seen too many terrorists who couldn't live or die in the Middle East.
He was well aware he didn't have their faith and couldn't go through those processes.
"I want to stay in Los Angeles's best prison, with the best medical care."
