Chapter 189: Joke: Sacrifice as an Older Sister
Ron Woods looked up at Bella Woods, having already hidden the vicious look in his eyes.
The way he looked at Bella was not exactly gentle, but rather calm: "I know that over the years, you’ve harbored resentment, feeling that I’ve neglected you in favor of your sister and brother."
"But Bella, you are the eldest daughter of the family, the older sister, and taking care of your younger siblings is your responsibility. Competing for affection with them is inherently absurd and undignified."
Listening to Ron Woods speaking amiably about family relationships was rare, but Bella Woods found it amusing rather than unsettling.
"You say that I’m the eldest daughter, the sister, so I have the responsibility to take care of my younger siblings, right?"
"Yes, helping parents take care of siblings and the household is truly the responsibility of an older sister."
Jade Patel walked out from inside, her face looking unpleasant: "And not every other day complaining about what your siblings have and you don’t."
"It’s not just because you were unwell that we kept you in the countryside. But have you considered that we have businesses here, your siblings are still young, and if you left the hometown, who would have taken care of your grandparents at that time?"
"If we hired a caregiver, would you be assured, or would I be assured? Moreover, once your grandparents passed, we brought you back and even linked you with such a good family as the Hughes Family."
"Bella Woods, in what ways have we treated you unfairly?" Jade Patel stared at Bella Woods and asked the bluntest question: "Tell me, what did I do or say that made you turn into such a selfish sister today?"
