After Xiao Ruiyuan’s marriage leave ended, he went to the Government Office to handle official business every day, once again becoming immersed in the busyness of the past, with little time during the day to accompany Mo Yan.
Feeling bored at home, Mo Yan started, under Xiao Ruiyuan’s reminder, to slowly take over the management of the General Mansion’s properties as well as those of Lord Wei Yuan House.
Although the couple did not live at the Hou Mansion, Xiao Ruiyuan had inherited the title, and the Hou Mansion’s properties were merged into the General Mansion’s and were managed under its unified care.
Xiao Ruiyuan didn’t have the time to deal with these worldly affairs and left them all to his trusted aides to manage. Now that the General Mansion had a Family Head, it was only proper for her to take over, and it also helped to keep in check those with less honest intentions who might want to undermine the General Mansion’s interests.
It took Mo Yan a month to sort out the accounts of the General Mansion. After making some minor adjustments to the management, she found it much easier to handle.
The managers only needed to bring the accounts from the previous month for her to review in the middle of each month. If they encountered any major issues that were difficult to decide on, they would come to the General Mansion to explain the situation, allowing her to make decisions.
Having established uniform standards, Mo Yan managed the vast family business in an orderly manner. After finishing her daily tasks, she still had leisure time to drink tea, read books, and if she felt like it, make some delicious pastries—some of which she would send to her parents at Scholar Mansion, and some to her two younger brothers at school. Her days passed quite peacefully.
The only thing that slightly displeased her was that the Six Beasts had completely fallen in love with the rowdy life at the military camp and rarely returned to visit her at the General Mansion. Later, when Red Python’s hibernation ended, it joined their ranks as well.
Of course, as far as the beasts were concerned, they were having a great time playing and frolicking; for the soldiers they trained, it was an entirely different and grueling experience.
