Mo Yan wanted to say that she had written a letter the night before saying she wouldn’t be back, but seeing Xin Er’s sad and helpless look, she didn’t bring it up, instead she comforted her gently, patting her shoulder, "If you keep crying, you won’t be pretty anymore. Your sister is right here in front of you now, tell me whatever grievances you have."
Xin Er nodded through her tears, about to speak but unsure how to begin. After hesitating for a moment, she finally asked softly, "If dad wants to find us a stepmother, sis, what would you do?"
