The father-in-law and son-in-law were so engrossed in their game of chess that they didn’t stop until late into the night. Mo Yan, fighting yawns and struggling to keep her eyelids open, eventually couldn’t help but remind them, "Dad, Bro Xiao, it’s really late; you two should wash up and go to bed."
Mo Qingze glanced at Xiao Ruiyuan, who wore an expression of fatigue, then looked over at the eye dropper pot in the corner and noted that more than half of the hour of Hai had passed. Realizing they would return to Jing City very late, he hesitated for a moment before saying, "It’s getting dark, why don’t you stay here tonight?"
Xiao Ruiyuan, masking the slight upturn of his lips, stood up and, with a touched expression, said to Mo Qingze, "Thank you, Father-in-law."
Mo Yan, who was exhausted, said there was hot water in the pot and then rubbed her eyes as she walked out of the study and returned to her own courtyard.
While soaking in the bath inside Space, Xuetuan leisurely flew over. Its snail-like eyes peered into the tub for a while, then nonchalantly shifted away as it spoke, "Yanyan, you knew full well that foolish woman would make her move tonight; why did you come back so late?"
After her bath, Mo Yan felt more spirited and poked the soft belly of Xuetuan, saying, "They won’t escape if they didn’t succeed in their task; what’s there to fear?"
Xuetuan stared with its eyes, speechless.
After drying off, Mo Yan changed into a pair of short-sleeve lingerie and shorts and exited Space. Just as she lay down on her bed, someone knocked on the door of the small hall. The door creaked open by itself before the knocking could continue twice.
To catch a few burglars, Mo Yan hadn’t even bolted the door this time.
Xiao Ruiyuan, however, mistook this as Mo Yan waiting for him, his lips curving into a pleased smile. But when he saw Mo Yan’s exposed snowy white arms and legs, he nearly thought the girl he loved was intentionally tempting him.
