Chapter 397: Wild Boar Meat Sausage (1)_1
Yang Bao nearly smashed his cup when he heard the news, and stormed over to the Wang Family. By the time he arrived, a crowd of villagers had already gathered at the doorstep, eager for the spectacle. There, in front of everyone, Yang Bao demanded to know the whole story.
As for the incident of stealing the prey from the dogs and then trying to extort the Mo Family after being injured by the tiger, Wang Dali and his companions were too slow to cover it up, let alone bring it up themselves. Yang Bao, however, wasn’t about to let them off that easily. Seizing the moment, he wanted them to admit their wrongdoing. When the village rules were set, he would use these men as an example to purge the village of its crooked and perverse influences.
Having served as the village head for over a decade, Yang Bao had his methods. With just a few words, he pressured Wang Dali and the others into spilling the whole story.
Learning that their escape from the tiger’s jaws, with only minor injuries, was thanks to the Mo Family’s big dog and the other thirteen mongrels who had bravely distracted the tiger, Yang Bao wished he could expel this bunch from Liu Yang Village once and for all. But as the village head of Liu Yang Village, he couldn’t do that.
The onlooking villagers, however, had no such reservations. They looked at Wang Dali and his lot with undisguised disdain. What kind of people were these, stealing even from dogs, and after the Mo Family’s big dog had fought desperately to save them, instead of being grateful, they had the audacity to run to their rescuers’ home in the middle of the night to extort silver, no better than beasts.
The thought of having to coexist with such selfish people filled everyone with disgust, as if they had swallowed flies. They were deeply wary of Wang Dali and his companions.
