Chapter 238 Mo Hong’s Family Sells Daughter and Gains an Uncle (6)_1
The next day, Mo Yan and her daughter took a carriage to Changshan Academy.
Located to the east of the city, Changshan Academy was situated on the outskirts of Jing City. Originally, this area was not prosperous, and could even be described as poor. However, since Changshan Academy had been established here, the local residents seized the opportunity to open restaurants, tea houses, bookshops, and other small establishments catering to the students, eventually forming a bustling commercial street.
Usually after school, the street was bustling with students from the Academy.
Now, as classes were in session at the Academy, the street was quiet. The trio didn’t search long before they found a landlord who specialized in renting out houses.
Indeed, the nearby houses were in high demand and only three were left.
One was a large suite with three bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. It had good lighting and ventilation, and the interior was nicely decorated.
The other two were smaller, each with one bedroom and a kitchen. The rooms were quite spacious, and though the furnishings- which included a bed, desk, and bookcase - were used, they were still 80% new. They would be fine for a single person.
The rent for the larger house was high, demanding ten taels of silver per month, which was not affordable for ordinary students. The two smaller ones were three taels of silver a month, and one of them, which had poor lighting, could be had for half a tael less.
Mo Yan actually wanted to rent the larger house, but Mo Qingze did not agree and refused to consider it, leaving her with no choice but to rent the well-lit smaller one and to pay the rent for a full year upfront.
Having secured the rental receipt, the three of them then bought a set of pots, woks, and other kitchenware in the street. As for bedding and such, they had plenty at home and there was no need to buy the expensive and average-quality ones available on the street.
