Zhenzhen retorted, "But they can’t just grab things. If Zhenzhen sees a toy she likes, she wouldn’t snatch it."
"Mhmm, Zhenzhen is a good child," Mo Yan patted her head approvingly, then shifted the conversation, "But not everyone is like you, knowing they shouldn’t take what isn’t theirs! If you can’t protect your treasures, you better not show them off."
Zhenzhen nodded as if she understood but then she said worriedly, "So now the toy has been taken by them, how can Zhenzhen get it back?"
Mo Yan glanced at her and decided to test her, "You lost the thing yourself, figure out how to get it back on your own. Remember, no fighting!"
As soon as Zhenzhen heard this, her shoulders slumped, and she left dejectedly, opening the door to go out.
Mo Yan shook her head, lifted the lid off the pot, and started stirring the dumplings boiling inside.
With forty-three guests including adults and children who had come to pay a New Year’s visit, Mo Yan cooked all of the three hundred-plus dumplings that were left from yesterday. Still, there was a bit of friction at mealtime. These little rascals had tasted some meat over the New Year, and Mo Yan’s dumplings were generously stuffed with it, making them exceptionally tasty. Even though they were full, they still wanted more and made a fuss with their parents.
The ones with thinner skin gave their own share of dumplings to their children, while those with thicker skin asked Mo Yan directly for more.
