A week had passed since the funeral. The mourning bells had gone silent, but tension clung to the air like thick fog.
Today, the Royal Hall of Decrees was full. High nobles sat in rows of golden seats, dressed in formal black robes. Mages of the Order stood silent. Knights in ceremonial armor lined the walls. Every eye was fixed on the center, where Sir Vaelin Arros, the Royal Advisor, stood beside a long marble table.
In his hands: a scroll sealed with the king’s crest—a lion with a crown, roaring fire.
"By the grace of King Adam Velmora," Vaelin spoke, voice solemn, "I now read the Last Will and Testament of His Majesty."
A magical circle pulsed on the floor beneath him, proof of the document’s authenticity. No one could forge it. Even death couldn’t fake this.
