Chapter 29: The World Tree
Mia’s voice filled the chamber. "Most races are granted a guardian to shield their people, their lands, and their lineage. For elves, it’s the World Tree. We are its protectors, but no one could ever defeat it—so long as the World Tree stands, the elves will endure in Fayralia."
So basically, the World Tree’s the elves’ power source—they’ll never die as long as it’s standing.
Jett tilted his head. "Okay, say the elves actually went extinct—how would new ones come about?"
"By the will of the World Tree itself, Master Jett," Mia replied, her pride swelling.
Jett nodded and held up a hand. He wasn’t in the mood for more elven lore—he wanted to test the new feature and see his maids’ rewards.
"Alright, let’s check out your gifts," he said. "Step into the summoning circle, Mia."
"As you command, Master Jett." Mia bowed deeply and moved into the glowing ring.
The light was so intense it turned her golden hair to a brilliant blue, and Jett got a brief glimpse of how she’d look in that hue.
"Not bad in blue, if you ask me," he said.
Noctlisa grunted. "Aye, she does."
Mia knelt and summoned her mana, pouring it into the circle. Instantly, the light shifted from blue to emerald, and motes like spinning leaves drifted around her on a gentle breeze. Mia closed her eyes, a soft smile touching her lips as the best memories of her forest home washed over her.
