Chapter 27: Taking care of his maids
Jett walked toward his maids’ rooms, stealing glances at them. Despite their wounds and the blood pooling on the white clouds, their health didn’t suffer. The clouds worked better than any anesthesia, muffling every bit of pain.
My mana usage drops inside the mansion. These white clouds sap way more mana than Shadow Clouds. Well, Shadow Clouds are only a sub-skill, but maybe I’m stronger inside the Warden Mansion?
That idea made sense, given the Warden’s status. Jett didn’t want to invite enemies into his home to test it, but he’d love to spar with Mia and Noctlisa in the training room. He’d already seen their skills, and he needed to practice teamwork with them. One look at their pale, bleeding forms made him forget about fighting; he just wanted to tend to their wounds.
"Ride’s over," Jett said as he reached Mia’s door. A nameplate on the wooden frame displayed her name and title in proud lettering.
"Thank you kindly, Master Jett," Mia said, lifting her torso. He opened the door and guided her inside on the white cloud. "Please allow me an hour, Master Jett. I shall return and be at your service!"
She bowed her head and closed the door.
Not wanting to worry her further, Jett took Noctlisa for a short ride to her room, which sat a fair distance away. Soon, he spotted the blackened wood door with her name carved into it.
He opened the door and slid Noctlisa inside on his cloud. "Do you have all your meds?" he asked.
Noctlisa nodded.
"I’ll be back soon," he added.
"Will you?" she asked, her eyes widening.
