Chapter 177: Rescue
Women of various ages from a little girl who seemed to be 8 years old to older woman on her 50s slowly emerged from the basement, their eyes adjusting to the light as they were guided out by Clementine and Rumia. Although Clementine clearly disliked the task, Shido had ordered her to escort the rescued captives to the nearest soldiers or the Adventurers' Guild and report that they were the women who had gone missing weeks ago.
Rumia had volunteered to accompany her, driven by concern for the women's well-being. She couldn't stop thinking about the cruelty they had endured. With Clementine there to protect her, Shido had no worries for Rumia's safety. If he truly wished, he could have commanded Clementine to wipe out the entire Eight Fingers organization, but that would risk alerting others, allowing some to escape.
The women who had abandoned all hope and awaited their fate to be sold as slaves, now looked upon their rescuers with tearful gratitude. Many wept openly, their voices hoarse from offering endless thanks to Rumia and Clementine. Clementine click her tongue in annoyance.
However, when they came to Shido, their eyes brightened and even though of doing something for him to express their thanks.
But, with Rumia around, those women was quickly shooed away, especially when they saw her smile brightly, but her eyes didn't said so.
Once Rumia and Clementine had gone ahead, Shido turned his attention back to Coco Doll who looked like deflated balloon. However, Shido didn't care about what he was feeling right now and asked. "Do you have here a blonde girl that came from a village?"
"Hm? You want a woman to accompany you, boss?" Coco Doll responded curiously, tilting his head. Shido told him to call him boss since he felt weird being called by a man especially someone like Coco Doll, master.
"No! I'm searching for someone with that kind of description. Her name is Tuareninya Veyron." Shido glared at Coco Doll for assuming things. If Rumia was with them right now then he was sure that she might puff her cheeks, pouting.
"I-I see." Coco Doll felt scared by his sharp glare. He nervously sifted through his memory, recalling the slaves he had acquired from the countryside. Then his eyes lit up. "Hmm... If I'm not mistaken, she should be that person..."
Coco Doll then told Shido about that girl with the description that Shido provided. Hearing his explanation, Shido began to frown and immediately go to the location that Coco Doll told him. As for Coco Doll Shido asked him to hide for the time being and wait for the meeting of the eight fingers.
Shido moved with incredible speed, his figure a blur as he used Flash Steps. At that pace, it would take him less than a minute to reach his destination.
