Chapter 60: Confusion
"Shido, what is your relationship with Origami?"
Tohka leaned on Shido's shoulder as she spoke with a pout. Although she was quite dumb and childish, Tohka knew that there was something going on between Shido and Origami. And her hunch became stronger when Origami spoke those words during their catfight.
After their class, Shido and Tohka decided to head home together. Meanwhile, Origami still has training at AST causing her to be unable to go home together with them. Seeing Origami's crestfallen look on her expressionless face, Tohka became happy and a smug expression appeared on her face.
Origami originally always won whenever the two were in an argument, yet, right now Tohka felt so refreshed seeing Origami's disappointed look.
Although, Shido had promised to revive her parents, and her hatred towards Spirits also diminished a lot. Origami cannot quit AST that easily since their memory about AST has to be erased to keep their existence a secret. Unless she join another organization on par with AST that could provide her with protection and allow her to retain her memories. However, such organizations were few and far between and joining one wasn't a simple process.
Origami understood this well. Even if she no longer held the same grudge against Spirits, her role in AST had shaped her entire life. Simply walking away wasn't an option, not unless Shido could offer her a true alternative.
For now, she would continue as a member of AST, all while keeping a close eye on their activities regarding the Spirits so she could provide valuable information to Shido.
Meanwhile, Shido who heard Tohka's annoyed question became silent. Although she was kind and innocent, Shido didn't want to lie to her, especially since she may have already had a clue about their relationship even though Tohka is not that sure since she was just starting to learn about emotion.
To make matters worse, Origami had shamelessly spouted all sorts of nonsense, further fueling Tohka's doubts. Shido could see the way her brows furrowed, her purple eyes filled with uncertainty.
