Zhu Bajie’s eyes twinkled as he chuckled and said, "This plan is truly exquisite. Just as Brother Monkey suggested, we will make our move after entering the bridal chamber."
"You didn’t even want Chang’e at the time, could it be that you’ve actually taken a fancy to this Fake Princess?" Sun Wukong looked at Zhu Bajie in surprise.
"How could that be? Would I, Old Zhu, be that kind of person?" Zhu Bajie quickly explained.
However, Sun Wukong clearly didn’t believe Zhu Bajie’s words.
Once the banquet was over, Xuanzang and the others were arranged to stay in a pavilion within the Imperial Flower Garden, while Zhu Bajie, now of increased status as the Prince Consort, was placed separately in another pavilion.
The pavilion was heavily guarded by the Imperial Guards, with posts every three steps and sentries every five, as if they were afraid Zhu Bajie would escape. This was, of course, arranged by the Fake Princess, truly to prevent Zhu Bajie from escaping.
However, if it had been the real Xuanzang who was engaged to be the Prince Consort, Xuanzang might have really tried to escape. Now that Zhu Bajie was taken to be the Prince Consort, even if someone told him to escape, he probably wouldn’t want to leave. Once back at their residence, Sand Monk sent all the palace maids and eunuchs away and locked the door before saying to Sun Wukong, "Senior Brother, why do you choose to act after the wedding? Won’t this just play right into that stupid pig’s hands?"
With a smile, Sun Wukong replied, "What? Is Junior Brother Sand jealous? If you like, we can swap Zhu Bajie back, and you can disguise yourself as Master and take his place as the Prince Consort, how about that?"
