I Can Contract Beauties

Chapter 81: The Source

As though something had clicked inside his head, Miguel’s eyes immediately widened in surprise and jubilation.

He raised his hand in joy along with Aaliyah’s hand and even reflexively hugged her tight, surprising Aaliyah so much that she was unable to react from his sudden actions.

Although she didn’t know what happened, Aaliyah had a smile on her face upon seeing Miguel’s childish action. This was the first time she saw him being like this. She felt happy that she could witness such a rare scene.

As Miguel let go of her, Aaliyah finally said, "That’s good to hear." She then transformed into a streak of light and returned to the grimoire. However, if one observed closely enough, they would surely see the color of embarrassment on her face.

Miguel did not pay too much attention to details this time though. His mind was still occupied by his discovery.

At the same time, he also felt that he had overreacted earlier.

The demonization truly heightened his emotions, making his actions seem uncontrolled.

There was a reason why beasts who were not intelligent enough could only go back to their carnal desires of attacking and consuming everything on sight, going berserk and unreasonable.

Perhaps, the reason why the Luminous Giant Frog, and the Short Leg Hound still acted with caution was due to the fact that higher grade beasts meant higher intelligence, and hence, they were able to control some of their actions a little.

However, their actions were still unreasonable and demonic.

Perhaps, a higher grade beast could suppress the effects of the demonic miasma? This was a possibility that he should not ignore.

For now though, Miguel looked at the creek with great caution.

The moment Aaliyah mentioned the phrase ’be flexible like water’ earlier, something immediately clicked on his mind.

His Innate Skill was trembling, as though telling him that he found the right answer.

Miguel recalled the first action when he arrived at the creek.

It was to drink water.

Aside from consuming beast meat, this was the only part where he needed to consume something.

Looking back, he fought a lot of demonized beasts while traveling along the creek.

Like humans, beasts also eat and drink everyday to sustain their life. The creek should also be the only water source around this area, and a lot of beasts must have drunk at this creek already.

This leads him to believe that the water in the creek was problematic.

No, to be more precise, the problem should be lying at the source of this creek.

"The water in the creek was continuously flowing. The whole creek could not be contaminated by the demonic miasma all the time," Miguel stated as he pondered.

He believed that there was a certain time where the creek’s water was contaminated.

And he and the beasts nearby who drank the water, happened to drink water at that time frame, infecting them with the demonic miasma.

Miguel arrived at this creek in the morning and immediately drank the water the moment he arrived.

The water was continuously flowing so the time frame he was searching shouldn’t be that.

Providing that the area where he drank was very far from the ’source’, Miguel thought that the time frame he was searching should be around midnight or dawn.

Woooooooh! Woooooh! Woooooh!

Unknowingly, the time for the wails around Ghost Wail Mountain has arrived.

The wailing sound reverberated throughout the area, breaking the silence of the night and Miguel’s thoughts.

’Ghost wail...’ Miguel’s head turned to look at where the wailing sound was coming from.

His eyes narrowed as he realized that it converged at the location upstream of the creek.

The wails in the Ghost Wail Mountain would always resound at the middle of the night and would stop when the sun rises.

The dots connected as Miguel rushed forward without hesitation.

Time was of essence.

He did not know when the demonic miasma would fully affect him and turn him into something like a demonized beast.

His personality was already slowly changing, his actions were getting rash. His emotions were being heightened and his reasons were being obstructed.

The Innate Skill screamed that he must resolve this problem as soon as possible before it was already late.

His figure phased in and phased out of the shadows under the bright moon.

Rushing through the end of the creek and the possible source of the demonic miasma, Miguel did not care about energy consumption at all as he used a drop of Origin Energy to propel himself forward with the [Shadow Steps] over and over again.

He encountered a lot of beasts , some of them were even demonic and rushed at him at first sight, wanting to attack him.

However, Miguel ignored all of them, and continued to phase in and out of the shadows, moving forward in a speed no normal human could contend.

The shadow of the Ghost Wail Mountain gradually closed in. Miguel’s eyes focused as he casted the Level 2 [Shadow Steps] over and over again.

His speed began to slow down a moment later.

The creek was gradually getting thinner.

At this moment, he had also finally arrived at the foot of Ghost Wail Mountain.

It was a very large mountain. Its huge silhouette was vague in his vision as he looked around.

The creek had basically turned into a small stream of water, a crick.

Miguel knew that he was nearing the source of this water.

He slowed down and followed along the edges cautiously.

The wailing sound that would resound from time to time was also getting louder in his ears. It was as though it was screaming right beside his ears every time it resounded.

And like his initial guess, the creek and the wailing sound indeed converge at the same spot.

A moment later, Miguel’s eyes narrowed and stared at the area in front of him.

It was where the flowing water ended, or to be precise, it was where the water started flowing.

It was a cave hidden behind a very thick bush.

A/N: Welp, have any of you expected this situation to occur when he drank the water previously? Hmm?
