Chapter 1567: Carmen Commander Battle Part 2
The color in the sky began to fade. The sun had descended, and visibility was starting to lower.
At the outskirts of the Great Roc Town, 100 or so players were camping outside.
"Guild Commander, I’ve set up the temporary respawn point." Sweet Sky wiped off the sweat on her forehead and reported. A branch of the cleric’s skill was a respawn point.
All those who were in the same party as her could be respawned through this point instead of another closest town or city.
Of course, the convenience was nice, but there was a risk. The temporary respawn point could be destroyed.
And for any unlucky individual who was trying to revive right when the respawn point was destroyed, they would be killed again.
Moreover, the temporary respawn point was linked to the caster. In other words, they wouldn’t be fully healed or anything, unlike the actual respawn location.
They would still be required to consume potions or be healed by another cleric.
Despite the drawback, many still opted to utilize this.
"Very well." Carmen made sure to emphasize the importance of the respawn point to everyone.
"I will mainly station here to protect this point. But that doesn’t mean you all should be reassured. This is your chance to shine and prove your worth as a Vanguard-worthy member."
"Yes, Guild Commander!"
The numerous members who were selected for this battle saluted as if they were soldiers in a war.
It was quite the exaggeration, to say the least.
However, this was their first time seeing Carmen personally leading the battle without the presence of their Guild Leader, Honorary Elder, or any other important leader.
The bragging right of being able to participate in Carmen’s first commander battle was not something anyone could enjoy.
"We’ll head out in 15 minutes. Remember, the goal is the town’s core. Don’t get too delayed by the frontline. Break a path and enable the assassins to hide in the shadows to find an opportunity to snatch the core." She instructed.
Due to Razor Nightmare’s arrogance, they probably never expected an attack against their town.
In fact, it wasn’t just Razor Nightmare who had such arrogance.
Almost all the Super Guilds believed themselves to be superior and that no sane person would even dare to challenge them.
It was why they were so infuriated when Vanguard repeatedly challenged and succeeded in winning from them.
They refused to allow an outsider to take a share of their pie, and would make it their mission to eliminate all those who attempted such a move.
Not to mention, this series of humiliations would definitely motivate others to believe that even Super Guilds could be challenged and defeated.
In the past, it was always Super Guild defeating another Super Guild.
No other came close to winning, and this included those top-rated first guilds with potential to promote to a Super Guild.
However, that had officially changed, and Carmen was determined to be the second person to succeed as well.
15 minutes later...
As the sky dimmed even harder, Carmen extended her hand and commanded.
"Attack!"
The moment the command was dropped, everyone who had memorized the battle strategy began to charge ahead.
THUD!
A guild war flag was placed, effectively surrounding the entire vicinity.
Meanwhile, Razor Nightmare members who were patrolling the town as usual received an urgent warning prompt.
[System Notification: The Great Roc Town is under attack by another Guild. Defend the Town’s Core!]
"What the heck?"
"Someone seriously got the courage to attack our town?"
Despite the initial shock, the members reacted quickly and sounded the alarm.
Soon, the relatively peaceful Great Roc Town had undergone a great change.
Defensive structures began to activate as they focused their line of sight on the intruders.
Amidst the dim light, Razor Nightmare members were finally able to discern who the attacker was.
"IT’S THE VANGUARD GUILD!"
Swoosh!
Like a chaotic thunderstorm, the Razor Nightmare members laughed wildly.
Not only were they not afraid, but they even welcomed the Vanguard Guild foolishness.
If this was happening within their Haven Wind City, then maybe they would be wary.
But where was this?
This was their turf!
Their guild’s town!
What gave the Vanguard Guild the confidence that they could win?
"Captain Bradford, we don’t spot any of the Vanguard high rankers amongst the invaders!" A Razor Nightmare scout approached the tall wall and reported.
Bradford, the Guild Captain of Razor Nightmare, narrowed his eyes coldly.
"They used a guild war flag to prevent teleportation and reinforcement quickly. The cost of using that should be at least 500 gold coins." Bradford muttered.
The range of the cost varied depending on how much terrain was affected by the guild war flag.
And their whole town was surrounded, alongside a few more meters on the outskirts. That would have cost quite a lot, and 500 gold coins were no small fortune either to be wasted.
Not even their own guild would be that spendthrift.
It was getting harder to convert real money into in-game currency when there was a lack of coins to even be exchanged.
Back then, the system had its own coins available for exchange, which was how many Super Guilds were able to gather so many funds. But now the system stopped offering them, and the average player’s coin storage could barely amount to much.
"What should we do now, Captain Bradford?" A member in charge of the defensive structure asked.
The Vanguard Guild was sly in only grouping 3 or 4 max per group and was separated by a large gap.
Even if they were to fire their weapon at them, the cost-effectiveness would be draining on their side.
This was the advantage of using only a smaller number of players instead of a large number of players.
The forces might be weaker in a sense, but they sure as hell would avoid being blasted by an AoE attack.
"Just have our Mages launch attacks on the wall for now and have the scouts continue to scan everywhere," Bradford commanded.
"I’ve informed the higher-ups already, and I need to wait for their orders on what to do."
