Chapter 129: Mommy abandoned us
"Have you found out who’s after Rose?" he asked, holding his phone while standing on the terrace. The wind blew around him as the call connected.
The man on the other end replied, "No, Alpha. We haven’t found any solid information. Whoever’s behind this knows exactly how to cover their tracks. We don’t know where they are, or even who they are. It’s like they’ve erased their existence."
Rolan narrowed his eyes. He knew he had to keep digging. Whoever this person was, they were a real threat. And Rose... Rose could be harmed.
"We have to do everything we can to protect him," Rolan said firmly.
The man on the phone agreed. "Yes, Alpha. We’re keeping a close eye on Rose. But I also think the person with him... she might be a supernatural. You need to stay sharp. Very sharp."
"I know," Rolan interrupted coldly. "I know I need to protect her. I will protect her. And nothing—not anyone or anything—is going to stop me from doing that."
The call ended.
Rolan walked back into the house, collapsing onto the couch. He pulled his laptop next to him, trying to get some work done. But he was too exhausted, his body begging for rest. His mind wandered.
Then his phone rang.
It was Jennifer.
He answered. "Hello, Jennifer?"
