Chapter 35: It’s on her if anything happens to me
Rose’s fingers holding her phone trembled. Her lips were also trembling. Her eyes felt like they were going to cry. Tears were building up in her eyelids, but she controlled herself, not wanting to cry. She wouldn’t cry.
What had she expected from a woman like her—her birth mother? But her mother always treated her as if she had picked her from the street and did not care about her. It hurt her heart very much hearing such hurtful words from her mother. She had been used to this habit of hers—it had been going on for many years. But still, hearing such words from her hurt her feelings very much, and she couldn’t help but want to break down.
With the little courage that she had. Finally, Rose responded to her mother. "I do not want Rolan. You can keep him for yourself. I mean, Jennifer can have him for all I care. Wasting your strength on me isn’t good. Dear mother, you should rest. Your favorite daughter can have Rolan for all I care."
Rose wasn’t trying to be fake. If her mother had been there, she would have said those words to her while looking her eye to eye. Her mother was not someone who deserved kindness.
Rose thought everything was over and that she had made her point clear, but her mother became more upset, and her tone over the phone grew serious.
"You have grown feathers. It seems that you have ever since the day you left home. I won’t hear another word from you. Anyway, come back home. You should come now or tomorrow. Sweetie, do you miss your daddy? You can come see him."
Rose’s heart almost skipped a beat hearing those words. They were clear threats. She didn’t want anything to happen to her father. Although he was a man, and she was an alpha female, her dad was just an ordinary human male. Her mother could do anything she wanted to him. Her mother was not someone who gave up easily; she would find all means to make Rose come back to that house.
Rose didn’t want to go, but she had no choice.
"And your son, don’t forget to bring him with you," Rose nodded plainly as she listened to what her mother had said.
