Chapter 33: Connection sent to her
Zara couldn’t stop herself from getting curious and asked with concern as she got up from her chair to sit next to Rose.
"Come on, girl, what happened? Tell me," she urged Rose with a playful smile. It was meant to lighten the atmosphere, even though it seemed so cold.
Rose sighed, finally turning her head to look at Zara.
"It’s Rolan," she began, observing the curious expression on Zara’s face. "He asked me out for coffee, and I went with him..."
"Well, I have nothing to say to you... This is totally not smart of you. Do you even know what you’re doing, Rose?"
Rose silently fumbled with her hands as Zara scolded her. Zara’s voice was loud, almost as if she was ready to yell.
Rose wanted to defend herself. She believed she wasn’t at fault.
"Rolan kidnapped me to have coffee with him, not the other way around where I went willingly," Rose said, thinking to herself that, yes, Rolan had indeed kidnapped her. But truthfully, she hadn’t resisted much.
Zara shook her head, her expression a sneer. Rose knew what was coming and braced herself for another scolding.
"Wow, just wow. He kidnapped you? I totally believe you, ma’am," Zara said sarcastically, as expected.
Rose bit her lip, hiding her face in a pillow out of embarrassment. What she had said wasn’t a lie, but Zara wouldn’t believe her when her body language betrayed her words.
