Chapter 27: He put cameras at her house
Rose had decided she didn’t want to wait for Tobi’s decision. She too was getting scared and might need the little midnight snack, so she held Tobi’s small hand, then carried him as her feet stepped on the cold floor getting off the bed. Tobi clung to her shoulders a little tighter as she carried him. Rose looked at him and then sighed. She walked to the door, looking back at the door, then she locked it, closing it shut.
At the kitchen, Rose placed Tobi on the counter and went to the other counter to peel some potatoes. She’d rather make homemade food than have her baby eat something overnight that could disturb his stomach.
As she peeled the potatoes, she couldn’t help but turn to Tobi, who was on the counter, and asked him, "Honey, did you really sense something?"
Tobi nodded at her question freely, even though her tone was serious.
Quack, Rose’s eyes widened, but she quickly kept her expression calm, not wanting to scare herself.
For such a long time, she had been trying to fool herself that it was not true. Those things wouldn’t come to her house, but now she might be wrong.
"Honey, here, let’s eat." Tobi turned his head toward her voice. She was done peeling the potatoes, and she had fried them. She had made fried potatoes because boiled potatoes were choking hazards if there wasn’t enough water, and even though there was enough water, a child like Tobi could easily choke on them.
"Mummy, thanks for the potatoes." Tobi’s voice came out slow, turning and looking at her as he expressed his gratitude. He was munching on his potatoes, his cheeks looking puffy.
Rose also munched on her own meal, looking at him, stopping herself from laughing at how cute he looked right now.
