A knock was echoed through the room, disturbing the little moment of peace that I had.
I didn’t move my head from Kaene’s shoulder, hoping that whoever it was would just go away and let us be. But the knock came again, louder this time, almost impatient.
A maid or a guard wouldn’t knock like that and Kaene knew that too as he sighed wearily, releasing my hand from his grip before he stood up to open the door.
I sat up, rubbing my temples as I felt a headache. I ignored it as I watched Kaene open the door.
The door opened, revealing an elegant woman who carried herself with grace and poise. Her presence alone was enough to command attention.
Kaene’s mom.
She entered with the room like the Alpha’s mother she was, her eyes scanned the room before settling on me.
I found myself sitting with my back straight under her imposing aura. There was something different about her today that I couldn’t quite place my hands on.
Her red lips curved Into a warm smile as she saw me, " Good morning lovebirds, I hope I’m not disturbing." Her voice teasing.
"Oh, N-no." I stammered, my face turning a shade of red as I understood what she was hinting at. The woman sure wanted babies.
"Mom, what is this about?" Kaene asked, his voice sounded as tired as he looked. We were both exhausted and honestly didn’t need more drama after we had just heard from Elder Gita.
