Rise of the Rejected Luna

Chapter 183: _ Survival

When that panther-like creature first appeared out of nowhere and began attacking us, I felt dread creep up my shoulders but I kicked it down. I was the alpha of the pack after all. More than anyone else, I needed to make sure that my strength didn’t falter.

Lycan Davos shifted into his lycan form and threw himself at the creature to stop it from going after Negan and Sir Elijah, but their scuffle only lasted a short moment before the creature swatted him off like a fly.

Taking that as my cue to attack, I hurriedly pulled out the electric glove I’d taken off the female hunter from inside my coat and pulled it on. I circled round the creature which was now swinging its paws around and jumped over its back placing my hand over its gigantic head. The reaction was immediate. Electric jolts shot up its body, and it started to vibrate.

I expected it to be weakened by then, but it wasn’t, so I had to go into full beast mode. My wolf was at least five times smaller than the creature, but that didn’t stop me. I had a precision that it lacked.

When I finally managed to sink my teeth deep into its neck, it let out a deep growl. I took advantage of the pain, and ran my claws over the spot that I’d bitten, tearing off the skin with as much strength as I could muster.

It struggled a little longer, but soon stopped as it fell heavily to the ground, its head hanging loosely by a single thread to the rest of its body, and slimy gore spilling onto my hands and some parts of my clothes.

"What’s going on here?" I asked, as I turned my attention back to everyone and noticed them all gathered round Negan with wary expressions on their faces.

The creature had gotten Negan during their brief struggle earlier. Elder Gita hurriedly gave him something to help with the venom of the poison, but the potion knocked him out and now, Lycan had to carry him as we continued our journey.

After we decided on a place to settle for the night, I asked everyone to wait for me while I went to hunt some game for us to eat.

At that moment, Phoebe rose to her feet and asked to go with me. For a moment there, I almost gave in, but I knew better than that. This forest was dangerous, at least, we’d managed to establish that. I couldn’t risk her life. I turned away from her without a word.

As I neared an eerily quiet part of the forest, I gave in to my wolf’s desire to take over. I was more alert in this form than in my human form, anyway.
