Chapter 42: _He Marked Me
After arriving at the Alpha mansion, I didn’t bother taking off my clothes, realizing just then that my maids, who’d been following behind me throughout the night without even saying a word, were still behind me.
"Miranda, Barbara." I turned around, acknowledging their existence from the distance they stood away from me. "You two can go rest, okay? Tonight has been... Hectic, to say the least."
They both glanced at themselves, hesitant at first but eventually nodded, bowing slightly before scurrying away.
Finally...
Bringing out my phone from a pocket I’d told the Alpha’s tailor to sew in when he asked if I wanted any modifications, I immediately dialed my brother’s number.
It had been a while since I talked with Caleb or my parents.
And with the recent poison attack on the high-class werewolves, I wanted him to hear about it from me first before hearing rumors from other people.
"Big sis, how are you?" His voice came from the other end, sounding a little groggy.
He’d probably been about to sleep before I called him.
Anyway, drawing in a deep breath, I muttered. "Not good, Caleb. Not good at all. Don’t tell anyone I told you this but the Luna Ball went to shit. They had to call it off and everyone’s going home."
Unlike the reaction I’d expected from him, Caleb suddenly sniggered, causing my brows to snap into a frown as I walked toward the stairs close to the dining room.
