Chapter 38: _Just The Beginning
"How dare you accuse our Alpha of such a heinous crime?" Gamma Thane stepped forward, trying to defend me from the Alpha of Crescent Moon.
Beta Negan also stepped forward, although he remained silent, his gaze lingering intensely on the Alpha of Crescent Moon.
However, before things could escalate, I called them back. "It’s fine. Stand back." I ordered.
Thane glanced at me reluctantly but eventually stepped away from the Alpha of Crescent Moon.
I didn’t want things to escalate beyond this because I understood the older Alpha’s plight.
He was in his mid-fifties and had probably been with his Luna for decades. It was understandable that he would want to find answers for her abrupt death.
"Alpha Caleb, you have to calm down." Elder Gita placed a palm in front of the Alpha, who was already growling at my Gamma and Beta like he was about to pounce on them.
A battle between wolves of our level would be catastrophic and unnecessary.
"With all due respect, Elder Gita, but how do you expect me to calm down?" Caleb snarled, glaring at the spiritual leader now. "How sure am I that you aren’t in on this conspiracy? Blue Moon does have a history of conquering other packs."
I couldn’t take the stain on my pack’s name anymore.
Stepping forward, I sized up the Alpha. "That was centuries ago, Caleb. And I’m nothing like my forefathers, you of all people should know this."
