The suite was dark, the only source of illumination being the moonlight shining through the windows and the door leading up to the balcony.
I watched as Kaene unfolded his arms, his steps menacing as he advanced toward me.
"I wouldn't ask again... What was the meaning of all that out there?" His tone was filled with spite and disdain, but there was also something else behind it.

Once again, just like when I was first announced as the Moon's Chosen, our wolves made a connection, howling desperately for us to make contact.
But I stood my ground defiantly, glaring at him. "What, I can't take a stroll around the estate? Also, I don't think I need to go into the details of how Elsa has been a pain in my ass barely a few hours after I was made the Moon's Chosen."
As soon as I said that, my eyes subconsciously went to the wall clock.
Darn it, it was way past midnight.

Meanwhile, Kaene harrumphed, walking toward me still. At this point, I nervously began stepping backward, hoping he would stop but that didn't happen.
I'd stepped backward so much that I didn't even realize that I'd stepped out of the suite and into the balcony. Not until my back hit the handrail and I almost tripped, of course.
