Ascension of Chaos

Chapter 224 - B2 | 69

Ashley

Despite the pain from my countless injuries, I can't help but smile at the tiger in front of me. Because it's unable to use two of its legs. One foreleg and one hindleg. On opposite sides of its body.

And on top of that, the Unique Monster can't use the energy in those legs either.

Further crippling it.

So with that little success, I rapidly back away from the tiger while focusing on healing my injuries. Which is a major pain since I can't just straight up heal. I have to destroy all of the shards freezing my body.

Fortunately for me, the Unique Monster is a hell of a lot slower now thanks to missing two limbs.

Slow enough that I actually out-speed it now.

Thanks to that I manage to dodge it as I run as far away as I can. All while using my Gaze of Destruction to gradually destroy the shards all over my body.

The Unique Monster continues to chase after me as I flee, but it can't keep up and I gradually begin to lose it. Which seems to anger the tiger as I hear it roaring in the distance.

I glance up from the shards when I see snow beginning to fall again. But I quickly ignore the snow as I return to destroying the shards one after another. Letting my wounds begin to heal and reverse.

The snow continues to build up around me bit by bit, making it harder to see as the tiger continues chasing after me in the distance. And right as the snow starts to turn into a blizzard that rushes straight towards the tiger, I finish getting rid of the last of the shards. Making it so the last of my injuries finally begin to heal.

But at the same time, I feel exhausted.

Pain spreads all throughout my body and I find it taxing just to move. My energy is also starting to run out.

I grit my teeth before glancing down at my gauntlets, then pulling an item out of my storage ring.

Honestly, I don't like using items. They aren't reliable in my opinion and it's just better to use your own skills and strength.

But that doesn't mean I won't use them.

I glance at the descriptions for both my gauntlets, the horn that appears in my hands, and the ring beneath my gauntlets.

Gauntlets of the Fallen Destruction Elemental

Description: A pair of gauntlets made from the hardened remains of the fallen elemental of destruction's body and core. They grant the wearer three temporary skills while worn. The first skill makes the wearer's melee attacks deal additional destruction damage to everything hit by them. The second skill allows the user to charge up a concentrated burst of destruction mana that they can release in a single beam. The third and final skill allows the user to slam their gauntlets into the ground, releasing a devastating shockwave that sends destruction mana through everything in a one hundred meter radius once a month.

Affects: Grants the user the following three temporary skills while worn: Destruction Strikes, Destruction Beam, Destruction Burst.

Horn of the Horde of Destruction

Description: A horn that one who has cleared the quest, The King is Dead, Long Live the King, may use to summon forth a small army of Destruction-Fallen Revalta that will follow their every order. Those summoned by the horn will only stay for one hour, and the number summoned is dependent on the amount of destruction mana used in the summoning.

Affects: Summons a small army of Destruction-Fallen Revalta that will follow your every order and remain summoned for an hour, with the exact number being determined by the destruction mana used.

Ring of the Fallen Drachne Queen

Description: A ring that grants the wearer three temporary skills that may be used once a day each. The first skill grants the user the ability to temporarily summon forth a swarm of drachne high guards that will be absolutely loyal to the user. The second skill grants the user a temporary buff applying the drachne queen's own destruction magic to every one of the user's attacks. The third skill grants every single attack made by the user a chance of applying venom to the target.

Affects: Grants the user the following three temporary skills while worn: Drachne High Guard Call, Drachne Queen's Destruction Strike, Drachne Venom Strike.

Most of the items I get from the Domains are pretty bad. So the only good ones I really have that are better than my skills and don't require me to use my own mana are these.

And even some of these require me to use my own mana.

But that isn't a major issue right now.

My eyes narrow before I use one of my Successor Skills.

The one that completely refills my Chaos Energy.

Then I realize something while looking at my Successor Skills.

Why the hell isn't Chaotic Source redirecting damage from the Unique Monster's True Damage attacks?!

Chaos? Do you know why?

"It is redirecting the damage," Chaos answers, his words sounding slightly anxious. "Open your message log."

My message log?

What's that?

"It's your backlog of messages that the System keeps from showing you for messages that are completely redundant," Chaos states again as I begin using the items I got. "This Unique Monster is immune to all ice damage. Including its own True Damage. And the monster's True Damage is hitting you faster than Chaotic Source can block since it's simply freezing you and is in a constant effect."

I blink at that before looking through the System Menus while also activating several of the skills given to me by the items. And when I do find and select a small little icon labeled System Message Log, I find numerous different messages appearing all at once. With another icon seemingly to continue seeing past logs.

{You have used up one charge of Chaotic Source! The True Damage has now been redirected! 7/30 charges remaining.}

{ERROR. Ice True Damage doesn't affect the Tiger of Eternal Snow. True Damage nullified.}

{You have used up one charge of Chaotic Source! The True Damage has now been redirected! 6/30 charges remaining.}

{ERROR. Ice True Damage doesn't affect the Tiger of Eternal Snow. True Damage nullified.}

{You have used up one charge of Chaotic Source! The True Damage has now been redirected! 1/30 charges remaining.}

{ERROR. Ice True Damage doesn't affect the Tiger of Eternal Snow. True Damage nullified.}

{You have used up one charge of Chaotic Source! The True Damage has now been redirected! 0/30 charges remaining.}

{ERROR. Ice True Damage doesn't affect the Tiger of Eternal Snow. True Damage nullified.}

{You have used up one charge of- Warning. User has no charges remaining. One unit of Chaos Energy has been expended to refill 10 charges. You have used up one charge of Chaotic Source! The True Damage has now been redirected! 9/30 charges remaining.}

{ERROR. Ice True Damage doesn't affect the Tiger of Eternal Snow. True Damage nullified.}

Oh. Yeah, that would become incredibly annoying if it was spamming me nonstop.

The message log is a good idea.

"I know, right? It was mine!" Chaos says, sounding proud of himself.

But I ignore his words as I watch the items' skills activate.

The first skill that activates is the Drachne High Guard Call skill that summons a swarm of drachne high guards all around us that immediately begin to charge at the Unique Monster chasing me. Then it's the Horn of the Horde of Destruction item's effect that summons a small army of Destruction-Fallen Revalta. With those very creatures charging at the Unique Monster as well. With me converting the Chaos Energy I got from my Successor Skill into destruction mana for the skill.

After that I go ahead and activate the various passive skills. Adding a bunch of effects to my attacks including both venom and passive destruction affinity damage.

In the end I find myself left with several dozen points of chaos energy that I'm leaving to use Assimilate as I focus on the battle using purely physical strength.

And I'm not the only one in a similar situation as the Unique Boss doesn't actually have all that much energy left itself.

Or, at least, energy that it can use. Seeing as it has two legs' worth of energy that is completely sealed away.

I narrow my eyes before clenching and unclenching my fists as the tiger roars while clashing with my summons.

Time to finish this.
