Chapter 373: Coalition vs. Oración Seis
"Hehe, are your parameters wavering? I can hear your hearts, you know," Cobra jeered with a sharp grin.
Hiss, hiss...
A colossal purple serpent coiled tightly around Cobra's shoulders, flicking its tongue out to taste the air as it hissed ominously.
"We should wrap this up quickly. Speed is paramount in efficiency, and frankly, you legal flies are an eyesore," the Mage designated as Racer muttered, pointing an irritated finger at the Coalition line.
"Wealth is the ultimate metric of a Mage's output, yes. Allow me to illuminate a fundamental truth: in this world, money dictates everything, and therefore—"
"Shut your trap, Hoteye!"
Before Hoteye could finalize his economic lecture, Cobra and Racer barked in unison, cutting him off with deep annoyance.
"Wait, is that guy seriously sleeping mid-combat...?" Lucy whispered nervously.
Scanning the five dark Mages, her eyes locked onto Midnight, who remained curled up on his floating velvet carpet, snoring softly. The bizarre sight comically deflated a portion of her mounting anxiety.
The remaining members of the Coalition Force maintained incredibly stern countenances, their eyes locked onto the apex underworld assets. Erza stepped forward, her hand resting near her pocket dimension. "To think you would actively expose your coordinates to our vanguard out in the open."
"Brain!"
Ultear's voice dropped into an ice-cold register as her lethal gaze locked squarely onto the figure anchoring the center of their line.
"Oh? Do you possess past data regarding my identity?" Brain cast a fleeting, indifferent glance toward Ultear. Reading the raw venom tracing her features, he deduced she harbored a personal history with him. He briefly scoured his mental archives for a match, but finding zero data profiles, he dismissed her casually. "Uncataloged data. A non-entity. Irrelevant."
Hearing his complete dismissal, Ultear's eyes hardened into absolute glaciers.
"Hehe, I can hear your thoughts, legal girl. Tragic, truly tragic," Cobra chuckled, mocking her emotional state.
Ultear snapped her gaze to Cobra, the unmitigated fury in her eyes completely bared.
"Whoa, I hear it again. Terrifying," Cobra sneered. Though his lips uttered the word "terrifying," the arrogant smirk stretching across his face confirmed he harbored zero actual concern.
"Keep your mental guards locked. That scoundrel is parsing our internal thoughts in real-time," Ultear announced sharply to the rest of the Coalition Force.
The dark Mage wasn't attempting to mask his capability parameters at all, continuously using the phrase "I hear it." She hadn't voiced a single line aloud; she had simply recalled her childhood trauma internally, yet Cobra had immediately categorized her as "tragic."
A moment later, she had mapped a brutal combat simulation in her mind to crush him, and he had instantly labeled the thoughts "terrifying." Based on these linguistic metrics, it was mathematically certain he was intercepting her inner cognitive stream.
The Mages' expressions grew increasingly tense. An adversary capable of running real-time diagnostics on an opponent's thought processes was an exceptionally troublesome tactical obstacle.
"Hmph! Who gives a damn if he can hear us? We just need to strike faster than he can process! This saves us the logistical hassle of tracking your cells down anyway!"
Natsu and Gray exchanged a swift glance. Igniting their respective magical channels, the two Dragon Slayers lunged forward, launching a direct physical assault against the Oración Seis line.
"Deconstruct them," Brain commanded flatly.
"On it!"
Racer smirked. In a single frame, his physical signature blurred, and he materialized directly in front of Natsu and Gray's advance.
"Too fast—!"
"Gah!"
The boys barely managed to cross their forearms in a defensive block before Racer's heavy kicks connected squarely with their guards. The immense kinetic output blasted Natsu and Gray backward through the air, sending them crashing heavily into the dirt.
"Natsu! Gray!" Lucy screamed in horror.
Flipping her Celestial Keys into her palm, she sliced her hand through the air with practiced focus. "Open! Gate of the Archer! Sagittarius!"
"Have you summoned my archery parameters, milady? Moshi moshi."
Clad in his signature, highly customized horse mascot costume, Sagittarius manifested at her side, executing a crisp military salute toward a completely empty quadrant. He was a legendary tier archer whose targeting metrics boasted absolute, flawless precision.
"Quick! Pin down that high-velocity target! He's manipulating his positioning fields!" Lucy yelled, pointing toward the shifting blur that was Racer.
"Understood!"
Sagittarius retrieved a volley of arrows from his quiver. Drawing his bow string to maximum tension, his fingers blurred as he released a high-velocity stream of piercing shafts tracking directly toward Racer's coordinates.
"Impressive velocity. Speed is indeed a beautiful asset," Racer laughed.
His physical form flickered dynamically across the field, executing minor positional adjustments that allowed him to effortlessly clear every single arrow in Sagittarius's targeting line. With another abrupt flash of speed, he materialized right in front of Lucy.
"What?! Eek!"
Lucy and Sagittarius completely failed to process his approach before Racer's heavy kick swept forward. The concussive impact sent Lucy flying backward through the air to crash into the grass, while Sagittarius was forcefully unsummoned mid-flight, his form dissolving back to the Celestial Spirit World.
"Yuka! Sherry!" Jura barked from the rear.
"Right!"
The two Lamia Scale Mages charged aggressively toward the Oración Seis line.
"Wave!"
"Doll Attack: Wood Puppet!"
A dense, vibrating ball of anti-magic energy stabilized around Yuka's right palm. Simultaneously, the earth beside Sherry fractured and groaned as she seized control of the environment, manifesting a massive, towering Golem sculpted from loose soil and stone.
"Target acquisition verified, yes."
Hoteye, the massive powerhouse of Oración Seis, slowly raised the index and middle fingers of his left hand, pressing them against his lower eyelid. Abruptly snapping his eyes wide open, he pointed his fingers directly toward the advancing forms of Yuka and Sherry.
The solid terrain beneath the two Mages' boots instantaneously liquefied, transforming the bedrock into a highly volatile, deep quagmire. Their legs sank heavily into the mud, trapping their lower limbs.
"Provided the financial compensation is met, concept parameters like love are entirely redundant, yes!" Hoteye continuously poured his magical payload into the field.
The liquefied earth surrounding Yuka and Sherry swelled upward like a localized tidal wave, threatening to collapse over their heads and bury them alive beneath tons of sludge.
"What is this?!"
"The ground is shifting parameters!"
The two shouted in panic. Yuka frantically slammed his anti-magic palm against the mud beneath his knees, temporarily neutralizing the spell properties within a narrow radius to restore the soil back to a solid state.
But a microsecond later, Hoteye's overwhelming magical volume flooded the area again, re-liquefying the earth and dragging Yuka right back down into the mire. Yuka continuously deployed his Wave magic, but the effective containment area kept shrinking; Hoteye's raw capacity light-years eclipsed his own.
Even the massive earthen Golem Sherry had constructed was sinking helplessly into the quicksand, its cognitive circuits jammed by the structural shift of its own anatomy.
"Iron Rock Wall!"
Just as the tidal wave of mud prepared to bury the two Lamia Scale Mages alive, Jura's calm, authoritative voice resonated from the rear.
Two colossal, iron-hard stone pillars erupted from the deep bedrock, lifting Yuka and Sherry completely out of the quagmire while shielding them from the crushing weight of the liquid mud.
"Thank you, Master Jura!" Sherry gasped, her chest heaving with cold sweat.
Both Mages wiped the sweat from their brows, their countenances turning intensely grave as they stared at Hoteye. If Jura hadn't intercepted the attack, they would have suffered immediate structural neutralization.
"Maintain your absolute focus. Iron Rock Wall!"
Jura extended two fingers, pointing directly toward Hoteye. The liquefied terrain around the dark Mage instantaneously flash-hardened back to solid stone as a rapid succession of massive, jagged rock spires shot out from the earth, racing toward his position.
"A performance truly worthy of a member of the Ten Wizard Saints, yes," Hoteye noted calmly.
Deploying a dense shield of pressurized magic around his massive form, he cleanly absorbed the impact of the incoming spires. With a sudden flare of his internal channels, his magic flooded the stone constructs, liquefying the rock spires back into fine mud that splattered harmlessly onto the ground.
"My spellcraft specializes in the absolute liquefaction of solid earth, while your parameters are engineered to enforce absolute hardening, yes. Let us test which structural philosophy commands the superior baseline capacity, yes," Hoteye said, locking his gaze onto Jura.
"The baseline properties of a spell are irrelevant. Victory belongs exclusively to the Mage who commands the most unyielding conviction," Jura countered, his tone dead serious.
"An incorrect calculation! Across every historical epoch, the faction that commands the true victory is always the wealthy! Yes!" Hoteye replied with a wide grin.
With that, the three Lamia Scale Mages found their positions completely locked into a stalemate against Hoteye's massive elemental control.
Simultaneously, Ichiya and the Blue Pegasus Tri-Men launched their own offensive vector, charging toward the remaining dark Mages. Racer's form flickered dynamically, closing the distance to intercept them.
"His velocity parameters are too high! My sensory arrays cannot trace his position!" Hibiki yelled.
"In that case, allow me to deploy: Parfum of Velocity!"
Ichiya retrieved an ornate crystal vial from his vest, popping the cork with a flourish. A dense, aromatic mist rapidly saturated the ambient air around the Blue Pegasus cell.
"Oh! His positional frames are stabilizing!"
"Big brother is incredible!"
Inhaling the specialized olfactory buff, the Tri-Men cheered. In their enhanced vision fields, while Racer's movements remained exceptionally high, they could finally trace the faint visual trajectories of his approach, saving them from being caught entirely off-guard.
"Oh? Your sensory metrics have been optimized," Racer noted.
He executed a rapid succession of strikes against the Blue Pegasus Mages, but leveraging their enhanced reaction speeds, the boys managed to narrowly clear his baseline trajectory.
"Speed amplification is indeed a beautiful asset, but can your nervous systems parse this configuration?" Racer grinned.
Dialing his physical output to a higher tier, his velocity spiked exponentially, completely vanishing from the Tri-Men's visual fields once more.
"Velocity Parfum: Maximum Concentration!"
Ichiya thrust the crystal vial forward, rapidly vaporizing the remaining fluid to artificially force the buff properties to their absolute limit.
"Too slow!"
While Ichiya's olfactory tracking mist successfully registered a visual ping, granting the four Mages a fraction of a frame to perceive Racer's coordinates, the dark Mage had already penetrated their absolute perimeter. Before their bodies could execute a counter-command, a rapid succession of heavy kicks connected with their ribs. The Blue Pegasus Mages were violently blasted off their feet, crashing into the dirt where they lay thoroughly neutralized and unable to move.
"Velocity is indeed a magnificent asset, but your baseline metrics are simply inadequate," Racer murmured, standing over the fallen Pegasus cell with a confident smirk.
Across the field, the absolute instant Ultear initiated her casting sequence, Cobra took two slow steps forward, inserting his physical form directly in front of Brain's position.
"I can hear it all, legal girl," Cobra chuckled, his eyes locking onto her.
Ultear gripped her jaw, her internal focus sharpening as she realized her strategic intent was being intercepted. To secure a clean line against her target, Brain, she would have to systematically dismantle this sensory asset first. "Ice-Make: Lancer!"
With a fierce, disciplined thrust of her hands, dozens of razor-sharp ice spears erupted forward, tracking directly toward Cobra's chest.
"I hear the trajectory clearly," Cobra noted, his smile never wavering.
Accompanied by the massive purple serpent coiled around his shoulders, his body executed micro-scale positional shifts, clearing every single incoming ice lance with minimal, effortless movement.
Ultear's countenance turned exceptionally grave.
"Requip: Heaven's Wheel Armor!"
Erza vaulted high into the air, a brilliant flash of spatial magic enveloping her form in her signature silver plate armor as dozens of longswords materialized to orbit her position.
"Dance! All My Blades!"
Pointing her sword downward, the orbiting blades launched into a rapid descent, raining down on Cobra's position. This sensory asset represented a critical threat to their operational cohesion; she would assist Ultear in crushing his defensive parameters.
"I hear the synchronization point," Cobra laughed. Once again, executing minor, calculated dodges, he cleanly cleared the descending iron rain without sustaining a single scratch.
"Sunlight Angel!"
The exact millisecond Cobra adjusted his footing to dodge Erza's blades, Sorano initiated her own sequence. A radiant, light-forged angelic construct materialized beside her, unleashing a concentrated beam of high-yield light energy directly toward Cobra's flank.
An adversary capable of running real-time diagnostics on their thoughts was an immense threat to their safety parameters; he had to be neutralized immediately. Sorano had intentionally timed her strike to catch Cobra mid-evasion, unleashing a wide-area blast designed to engulf both him and Erza's descending swords in a single, unavoidable calculation.
