Chapter 140: The Seduction
"He will never take your side, Bernice Balliol! He will never look at you again!"
"Ha! What are you saying? He won’t come to me? You are trying to pull me down again with your words, aren’t you? I know it! Now, move aside and let me go. My husband must be waiting for me," the Duchess said, trying to push the princess away, but it was useless. The princess wouldn’t let her out, pushing her back once more.
"Didn’t I say he doesn’t want to look at you? Can’t you understand? You two are divorced. The contract is over, and he has accepted the truth after learning you murdered someone. He no longer wants to be with you, and having any part of your life is unacceptable to him," the princess said, glaring at the Duchess, who was already flinching while lying on the bloodstained floor.
"No! This is all a lie. You are trying to manipulate me, but I will never let that happen. So, get out of my way. I will see my husband," she said.
"You will soon meet your husband, but not in the way you expect. It will be at your execution ceremony. So why are you in such a hurry? It will come soon enough, so be patient and wait for your execution," the princess said,locking the door on the Duchess’s face once again.
"Open the door! I want to see my husband!" she screamed.
"I didn’t murder anyone! This is all a false accusation placed upon me! This is all done by you!"
"This is all a result of your actions, not mine. Open the door! I will tell my husband the truth behind this all!" She slammed the door repeatedly, but the princess remained unfazed, smiling at the Duchess’s distress.
"You will never get out of this room until I permanently remove you from my life. No, not just my life, but from the entire world. Just wait!" the princess muttered, walking towards the maid’s quarters. She found the maid still alive.
"Is there any way she can survive?" she asked the doctor.
"No, not realistically. She has already lost too much blood and will soon be dead," the doctor replied.
"I still can’t believe the Duchess would do something like this. She appeared so kind, like she considered this poor girl her sister. But look what happened now. She has completely changed," the princess said, feigning sadness.
