Chapter 70: First Kiss

Rob walked beside Dacey with anxiety filling his heart. He didn’t know what the verdict of his performance was and he knew if it was a negative one, he wouldn’t even get to know it from her directly.

As they walked away from the theatre, the crowd started thinning and Rob’s anxiousness only grew further. He started stealing glances at her occasionally. The fact that they haven’t spoken a single word since they stepped out of the theatre was giving him a bad feeling as well.

"So," Rob spoke trying to work out a means to get to know her thoughts, "did you enjoy the movie?"

"It was alright," Dacey said shrugging.

That reply made him feel a bit more dejected. Until now, he had been banking on the movie being good enough to offset his terrible performance. But now, that hope was also dashed.

"Oh," Rob said not knowing how to continue the conversation.

"I like Jerry Springer’s movies. He is my favorite actor. I have been meaning to watch this one for some time now. Thanks for taking me to it," Dacey said giving Rob a small smile.

Rob breathed a little sigh of relief.

"But, this movie was not his best work. The story was very generic. I noticed that you seemed bored out of your mind too," Dacey said looking at Rob.

"Hmmm, it was not that great," Rob agreed with her.

In reality, he felt like bashing the movie like there was no tomorrow. The movie was not only very bad, but it was a nightmarish experience for him. So, he knew deep down in his heart that he would never watch this particular actor’s movies again if he had any other option.

However, she had just told him that this was his favorite actor. And bashing him in front of her face was not a good idea. Rob knew that he had already fucked up his performance, but that didn’t mean he has to screw up even worse, right?
