Becoming The Bigshot's Only Love After Breaking Her Engagement

Chapter 404: The Reason for Avoiding Him

"Where are you going?"

Zhan Hanjue immediately stood up and grabbed Ningwan’s wrist to ask.

Ningwan said, "Today I have to meet with some important figures in the Traditional Chinese Medicine field. Li Qingqing is dead, and the Holy Doctor Sect has to take over. So, I will be quite busy for a while, and I might not even come back tonight."

After saying this, Ningwan pushed away his hand and quickly left.

Zhan Hanjue frowned.

Why was it different from what he imagined?

The two of them were reunited after a long absence. Shouldn’t they be all lovey-dovey like a newlywed couple?

Why did he feel that Ningwan wasn’t enthusiastic towards him and seemed to be deliberately avoiding him?

However, he wasn’t wrong; Ningwan was indeed deliberately avoiding him.

"It’s not that I’m being unreasonable," Ningwan confided to Wu Taotao, "I don’t want to avoid him, but... after being apart for four years, everything feels different. And most importantly, I’m so busy now, I’m afraid I’d bring trouble to him. Ever since he’s been with me, he’s been so unlucky. If it weren’t for me..."

"If it weren’t for you, he’d still be blind and live a lonely life with no woman he loves or his own child," Wu Taotao interjected.

Ningwan chuckled, "Indeed, thinking about it this way, meeting me wasn’t that unlucky for him."

"So, it’s all in your head. Just focus on your work and take it slow with Zhan Hanjue," Wu Taotao said.

Ningwan nodded, feeling suddenly enlightened.

"I’ll talk to you later; I’m going back home to find him."

Once she figured it out, Ningwan just wanted to hurry home to see Zhan Hanjue right away.

Wu Taotao hesitated, seemingly having something more to say, but in the end, she just nodded and smiled as she watched Ningwan leave.

After Ningwan left, Wu Taotao let out a small sigh, staring absently ahead.

Ningwan hurried home, only to find that Zhan Hanjue wasn’t there.

"Where’s Mr. Zhan?" Ningwan asked.

The servant replied, "He went out with the young master."

Ningwan frowned, noting it seemed he took Little Tuantuan to school.

She couldn’t help but smirk, planning to wait at home and laugh at Zhan Hanjue.

She had long advised him not to take Little Tuantuan to school, but he didn’t listen.

However, he’ll soon find out that ignoring good advice comes with consequences.

Sure enough, she wasn’t wrong.

Zhan Hanjue brought Little Tuantuan to the kindergarten gate, and Little Tuantuan was stunned!

Because Zhan Hanjue told him he was going to give him a surprise.

So, he didn’t specify where they were going.

He thought the surprise was going to meet Xiaxia.

After all, he had been thinking about Xiaxia this whole time.

Since dad knew, he would naturally let him meet Xiaxia.

But unexpectedly, no Xiaxia, just kindergarten.

Staring at the kindergarten gate, Little Tuantuan looked completely baffled.

He was led inside by Zhan Hanjue still in a daze. The teacher saw him and eagerly pinched his little cheeks.

"Such a cute and beautiful little one," the teacher praised.

Although using ’beautiful’ for a boy wasn’t quite appropriate.

However, at Little Tuantuan’s age, gender wasn’t so distinct.

Moreover, he was indeed beautiful.

The teacher, with many years of kindergarten experience, was still taken aback by his appearance.

He truly was a very beautiful child, hard not to be wowed by.

However, Little Tuantuan didn’t care at all for the teacher’s praise and almost stormed off at the face-pinching.

"Mr. Zhan, this way, please. We’re planning to place him in the Little Two class. These are the students of Little Two, you can observe and help him adapt first," the teacher led them to the playground where kids were playing.

Zhan Hanjue and Little Tuantuan were once again stunned.

The voices of over a dozen children in the playground echoed loudly as they chattered continuously.

Some boys were even wrestling, fighting over the slide.

Soon enough, one cried, and another fussed.

Caregivers were busy soothing them all, wiping tears and noses, taking meticulous care.

Yet to Zhan Hanjue, whether it’s the twins or Little Tuantuan, they were very quiet kids. Usually reasoned with talks, they rarely fussed or rolled around.

Seeing so many children crying and fussing endlessly, he was quite overwhelmed.

And for Little Tuantuan, it was even more so.

To him, these perpetually playing and fussing kids seemed terrifying, not fun at all.

"Dad, is this the surprise you promised?" Little Tuantuan muttered.

Zhan Hanjue seemed to realize he might have made a mistake.

As he was about to explain, the teacher spoke up first, reaching to guide Little Tuantuan, "Zhan Yunxiao, go play with them! Look how happy they are."

"I don’t want to go. I don’t want to be here," Little Tuantuan adamantly shook off the teacher’s hand and turned to leave.

The teacher was extremely embarrassed and quickly looked to Zhan Hanjue.

Zhan Hanjue had to explain to the teacher, "Sorry, we’ll have to postpone this."

After that, he hurried to catch up with Little Tuantuan.

"Sorry, dad should have told you in advance before bringing you here."

Once he caught up, Zhan Hanjue apologized to Little Tuantuan.

Little Tuantuan pouted and unhappily said, "Dad, I didn’t like this surprise at all."

"Alright, dad knows. I won’t bring you here again," Zhan Hanjue reached to pat his head and picked him up.

Little Tuantuan sighed with relief. Luckily, dad wasn’t going to force him to attend school.

However, as soon as they got in the car, Zhan Hanjue received a call.

"Okay, I got it. I’ll go personally."

After hanging up, Zhan Hanjue smiled and said to Little Tuantuan, "Sweetie, dad needs to go to the airport for something and might be gone for a few days. I’ll drop you home, and you can tell mommy, okay?"

"Why can’t dad tell mommy himself?" Little Tuantuan asked.

Recalling how Ningwan deliberately avoided him, Zhan Hanjue felt uncomfortable and figured it’s best not to upset her for now.

"Mainly because dad’s quite busy and wants Little Tuantuan to help convey the message. Can you do that?"

"Of course, I’m not dumb," Little Tuantuan proudly said.

Zhan Hanjue smiled and had the driver take them home, sending Little Tuantuan back first.

"Madam, the young master is back."

Ningwan had just finished a call when the servant came over to report.

"Okay, got it."

Ningwan put her phone away, smiling as she went to greet them.

But she only saw Little Tuantuan alone.

"Tuanzi, where’s dad?" Ningwan raised an eyebrow in surprise.

Little Tuantuan curiously asked, "Didn’t you have a fight with dad?"

"What fight? When did I ever fight with dad?" Ningwan gently flicked his little forehead.

Little Tuantuan mumbled, "It’s so strange, if you didn’t fight, why doesn’t dad dare to see you?"

"Dare not see me?" Ningwan was startled.

"Yes, dad dropped me off at the door and left. He also asked me to tell you he’ll be leaving the country for a few days. If there was no fight, why wouldn’t he tell you personally?" Little Tuantuan questioned, looking up with his small face.

Ningwan: "..."
