Chapter 402: Plucking His Heartstrings
"You made too much of a fuss," Ningwan complained.
Zhan Hanjue was speechless. He did it all for her, even disregarding his own face, threatening the woman with words. Yet she actually blamed him for making too much of a scene.
Even Jin Yingzi couldn’t stand it anymore. She quickly tugged at Ningwan’s clothes, whispering, "Miss Ye, you can’t blame Mr. Zhan. Mr. Zhan helped us. If you speak like that, it will hurt his feelings."
Ningwan raised an eyebrow at Zhan Hanjue, as if to ask, "Are you mad?"
Zhan Hanjue curled his lips into a smile, "It’s fine. I did make the situation bigger. You guys have fun on your own. I’ll go over there and chat with some friends. Call me if there’s anything. After the event, we can go back together."
Ningwan nodded, watching Zhan Hanjue leave.
Once Zhan Hanjue was gone, she immediately raised an eyebrow at Jin Yingzi, "See, that’s the way to get along in a relationship. Sometimes, a little bit of pretentiousness or irrationality from a woman isn’t a problem; for a man, it’s even an enjoyment. However, the premise is to know his bottom line and not go overboard."
Jin Yingzi looked awkward, "So, were you just teaching me how to get along with Wen Jianan?"
Ningwan said, "You and Wen Jianan have been together for so many years, you’ve long found your own way of getting along as a couple, so you naturally don’t need me to teach you. I just wanted to tell you, if you stick to an unchanging pattern for too long, people will inevitably get bored. So, sometimes a little change doesn’t hurt. Of course, if you feel this relationship is burdensome to you, just pretend you didn’t hear or see anything I said or did. If you want to break up with him, I support you."
"I’ve never thought of breaking up with him," Jin Yingzi said. "It’s just that... never mind, you’re right. People do need to make some changes. I’ll seriously consider our issues. You taught me a lesson today." Jin Yingzi said with a smile.
Ningwan nodded.
Knowing that she’s a smart person, there’s no need to be too explicit; just a hint is enough.
They both stayed on at the party.
Ningwan taught her how to chat and communicate with people.
When the party was about to end, Ningwan tilted her neck to relieve her fatigue.
"Actually, everyone gets tired from such social events. But in life, often we can’t do things our way. If you can’t change it, you just have to accept it. Look at them, singing and laughing as if they’re enjoying themselves. But really, when everyone gets home, they’re just as exhausted." Ningwan took the opportunity to tell Jin Yingzi.
Jin Yingzi nodded, "Yeah, I understand."
Ningwan smiled.
At this moment, Zhan Hanjue came over.
"Let’s go home together," he said to Ningwan.
Ningwan apologized, "I can’t, I need to take Jin Yingzi home first."
"No need, someone’s here to pick her up." Zhan Hanjue glanced towards the door.
Ningwan and Jin Yingzi followed his gaze and saw Wen Jianan arriving.
Seeing Jin Yingzi’s outfit, he visibly showed an amazed look.
Zhan Hanjue said, "Your person, you take her away."
"Of course, she’s so beautiful, I wouldn’t trust her to go with someone else."
Wen Jianan laughed, holding Jin Yingzi by the waist.
Jin Yingzi blushed.
She and Wen Jianan had been together for so long, and Wen Jianan had never said such sweet words.
When they were together, they mostly talked about medical stuff.
Thinking about it, they were more like partners or colleagues than a couple.
"Thank you."
Before leaving, Jin Yingzi mouthed these words to Ningwan.
She had been struggling, unable to let go, unable to find peace, but Ningwan easily helped her untie the knot.
Perhaps in the future, she knew what to do with Wen Jianan.
Ningwan laughed lightly and nodded.
Zhan Hanjue, watching from the side, raised an eyebrow and asked, "What are you guys talking about?"
"Nothing, she just thanked me. I don’t know what she means either." Ningwan shrugged.
Zhan Hanjue wrapped his arm around her waist, "Let’s go home."
Ningwan nodded.
She had also drunk a lot while socializing with Jin Yingzi today.
Although she had eaten something to sober up before drinking, the effect of red wine was strong. As soon as she got in the car, she couldn’t help but close her eyes and rest.
Zhan Hanjue looked at her cheeks flushed, her long curled eyelashes fluttering slightly like two little brushes. They fluttered and seemed to tickle his heart.
"Wanwan."
Zhan Hanjue softly called out twice.
Ningwan let out a "Hmm" through her nose and slightly turned her body, continuing to lean back and sleep.
"You’re not comfortable sleeping like this, lean on me."
Zhan Hanjue stretched out his hand and moved Ningwan’s body to let her lean on his shoulder.
Ningwan was very obedient, found a comfortable position, and continued to sleep.
Zhan Hanjue only had to lower his head slightly to see Ningwan’s long curled eyelashes.
Unable to help himself, he couldn’t resist and gently kissed her forehead.
The driver in the front glanced at the rearview mirror and immediately turned his gaze away.
And after stealing a kiss, Zhan Hanjue was as happy as a cat that got the cream.
He didn’t know why, especially when the two had already been together for so long and even had a child.
Yet this light kiss made him excited and uncontrollable.
As if returning to those tender years of youth, the first blossoming dreams of spring. Even though the other person’s face was unclear, the excitement from the dream led to his first awakening, leaving him both bewildered and filled with a sweet sensation afterward.
"You stole a kiss," Ningwan suddenly said with her eyes closed.
Zhan Hanjue was startled, caught in the act, embarrassed. He coughed lightly to explain, "I just... accidentally brushed against you."
His explanation was awkward even to himself.
A kiss is a kiss, admitting it honestly would do. Why lie?
"Liar."
As expected, Ningwan exposed him again, "You clearly stole a kiss from me and still said it was accidental."
"Wanwan," Zhan Hanjue softly pleaded.
He hadn’t expected to steal a kiss and even lie about it.
Ningwan lifted her head from his shoulder, her eyes dreamy as she looked at him.
Zhan Hanjue’s heart fluttered under her gaze, his heartbeat accelerated.
"Wanwan, I’m sorry."
For a lifetime, he probably never had such feelings.
"Why are you apologizing?" Ningwan asked.
With a flushed face, Zhan Hanjue admitted, "Earlier... I did steal a kiss from you."
So he had to apologize.
Ningwan showed a "so that’s the case" expression.
But the next second, she grabbed his tie and pulled him toward her.
"If you want to kiss, then kiss openly. Why steal it?"
Their breathing mingled, so close.
Zhan Hanjue’s heart pounded even faster.
Sure enough, the next second, Ningwan kissed him.
Unexpected, yet inevitable.
The passionate kiss left Zhan Hanjue momentarily dazed.
But quickly, he extended his hand to support Ningwan’s nape, taking back the initiative and deepening the kiss.
