"Why the long face? Even if I’m not Yu Xiuzhun, you’re not getting away!" Bai Zheng tightened his grip on her slender waist, dominantly lowered his head to nip Ye Mingmei’s earlobe, pulling her into his embrace. She would rather have him facing her resentment than see her hesitant and afraid.
"I’m not sulking, I’m just a bit hungry..." Ye Mingmei finally mustered the courage to finish her sentence, only for her stomach to let out a loud growl.
Her face went red from embarrassment, not daring to meet Bai Zheng’s gaze.
Bai Zheng was equally taken aback; he hadn’t expected that after all his anger, she was merely hungry...
"I, um, forgot to eat breakfast when I went out this morning, and just now..." Ye Mingmei, embarrassed, struggled to finish, casting him a timid glance.
She had been hungry all day, forced to deal with his overbearing demeanor, her knees now weak.
"Idiot!"
Ye Mingmei waited for a while, only to receive those two words from Bai Zheng. Suddenly, she was swept off her feet, carried outside with large strides.
Stuffed into a car, still dazed, she asked, "Where are we going now?"
"To feed that little stomach of yours, otherwise I’m afraid you won’t have enough energy for me." Bai Zheng had one hand on the steering wheel, the other tightly clutching her small hand, fingers interlocked.
Her heart tightened as his handsome profile turned toward her, gazing affectionately as if his eyes could drown her.
Ye Mingmei’s palm tightened, fearfully averting her gaze, biting her lip without uttering a word.
Bai Zheng didn’t press her; he was the one who decided to conceal his identity at the start. Now, when she finally accepted him as Bai Zheng, he suddenly revealed he was Yu Xiuzhun. Anyone would struggle to adapt to such a rollercoaster of emotions.
