"Mingmei, calm down, listen to me!" Bai Zheng reached out to grasp her shoulders, pulling her forcefully into his embrace. "I am not just Bai Zheng, I am also Yu Xiuzhun!""You’re not, you’re not... You don’t need to lie to me anymore. I won’t believe it..." Ye Mingmei covered her ears with both hands, emotionally trying to push him away.
"I am!"
"You’re not!"
"I am! Ye Mingmei, take a good look at me, not with your eyes, but with your heart!" Bai Zheng grabbed her hand, pressing her palm against his chest. "I am your Xiuzhun, I came back to take you and Meimei!"
"You’re not him, you’re not... He wouldn’t bear to disown me, wouldn’t tell me personally that I mistook the person..." Ye Mingmei shook her head vigorously, trying to back away. In her mind, she kept replaying the scene of waking up in Bai Zheng’s bed, convinced that he was comforting her only because they’d had relations.
"There is a reason for all of this, listen to my explanation!" Bai Zheng looked at her pale face, anxious to the core.
Ye Mingmei forcefully pushed his arm away. "You even told me you have someone you love, you’re about to propose, and now you tell me you’re Yu Xiuzhun. Your lies come one after another; I don’t believe any of them. Let me go..."
"I won’t let go!" Bai Zheng held her tightly in his arms, his lips parted slightly, uttering word by word, "I won’t let go until death!"
Exhausted from struggling but unable to break free from his hold, Ye Mingmei looked up at him in astonishment, not understanding what he truly wanted.
