Having prepared his mind, Li Ang immediately noticed someone lying in ambush in the bushes ahead.
As the car veered off toward the side of the road, he seized the opportunity to open the door and slip into the underbrush.
In a situation where he was at a disadvantage, it was essential to appear where the enemy least expected, to turn passivity into proactivity.
Calculating the time difference between the sound of the tire burst and the gunshots reaching his ears, Li Ang estimated that the ambushers were positioned about two hundred meters ahead.
Under normal circumstances, they would likely be tightening the encirclement by now.
He used the briefest moment to stealth into a thicket about fifty meters from the car.
If it were day, he might not be able to hide, but night was a different story. Even if the enemy used night vision, their visibility would be greatly reduced, not to mention that his top-grade protective suit also featured temperature shielding, making him undetectable by even thermal imagers.
About a dozen seconds later, Li Ang heard several footsteps closing in toward the car.
Sure enough, Li Ang, hidden in the bushes and not on their direct path, went completely unnoticed.
Then he heard voices from that direction.
"Is he still in the car? Should we throw a grenade first?"
