Chapter 418 - 250: Focused Cultivation, Multiple Master-Level Skills
This method is somewhat similar to "submersion swimming," where the entire body is submerged in water, swimming like a fish.
"Submersion swimming" is not particularly unusual, but it became well known due to the swimming competitions at the Olympic Games.
In the swimming pools of the Olympic Games, if you pay close attention, you’ll notice that at the pool bottom, 15 meters from each side of the lane, there is a white line. This line is specifically there to remind swimmers of the maximum distance they can swim submerged before they must surface; otherwise, they will be disqualified by the judges.
The reason for this rule is mainly because normal swimming styles, which involve switching between water and air, create considerable resistance when swimming.
Submersion swimming nicely solves this problem by reducing resistance, naturally increasing speed as a result.
The only drawback is that this style of swimming does not allow for breathing, limiting its use to short bursts of high speed, a critical point in competitions.
This drawback, however, wasn’t a severe issue for Li Ang, whose strong constitution enabled him to achieve breath-holding capabilities far beyond those of the average person.
Li Ang, based on the movements of submersion swimming and his own condition, made some modifications.
There was an explosive form that, for short periods, allowed him to swim faster than a person could run on land.
There was also an endurance form that let him swim submerged for more than ten minutes, which, although slower, was still faster compared to normal swimming strokes.
Although he couldn’t compare to actual fish, he was getting close to some marine animals like seals and penguins.
Meanwhile, after advancing [Swimming] to the master level, the second trait he unlocked further enhanced his mobility in the water.
