Chapter 596: Life humbles us all
Wen Li!!!? Chi Lian’s inner voice screeched, her pretentious cousin that had been imprisoned along with her parents. She had heard that she was released from prison after two weeks but they never heard from her again. Since she vanished and sought no trouble or help from the Chi’s, she had not given her a second of thought. Who knew that she would see her again? Didn’t she leave the country?
"She is not your cousin." T4 said.
"I know that. " She responded.
Wen Li was dressed in a uniform similar to that of the other female employees in the store. It seemed like she had found employment here, recently because the last time Chi Lian was here, Wen Li was not.
Two female employees recognized Chi Lian, she was a collaborator with the boss and a top spender in the store, a VVIP.
"Welcome," the manager came hurrying over to help her carry the things in her hands. "Boss Chi, we have expecting you."
Chi Lian smiled at the manager but her eyes did not leave Wen Li who had recognized her too, trembled and lowered her head, facing her eyes to the ground.
She scoffed, and thought, ’Ah, so her wings are finally broken.’
Her hair was shorter, having been cut either to save expenses, or to help with expenses by being sold off.
Her nails were short and not painted, the shoes she wore were polished but cheap, not her usual standard. She was practically a shell of her former self.
"Is your boss in?" She asked the manager.
