Chapter 515: Lost culture it is!
"Your brother is not a current activist and he has no past as one. I dont even think that he has ever attended any kind of rally standing against or for something. Such a position will have other active human rights activists questioning his eligibility. They will want to see pictures of him at past rallies or old social media posts where he shared an opinion supporting or condemning any type of cause. Also remember that causes are specific so it has to be the right one." Muyang gave her his opinion.
"Not just that," Ringo added, "When he meets the press he will be faced with questions like there is a war in kingdom A, children and women have been killed what’s your stand as the Minister for human rights. Whatever side he picks he will be crucified. And if the two fighting sides have a cordial relationship with our empire he will have to be neutral which will result in him being called a coward. Perhaps he will be better off taking the position of Minister for the animal rights, they have activists too though, the ones who say we should not eat meat. This looks simple but it’s not."
Cherry nodded along as she listened to Ringo, "I have seen such scenarios, as a photojournalist I have covered a few wars in my career. Often times the first thing most media’s do is look for politicians, seeking their opinions and calling on them to help one side or condemn the other. As a human rights Minister your brother would be dragged into that kind of situation no matter how much he tries to avoid it. And you have to remember that if he decides to share his opinion he has to watch his words or risk offending the emperor. If you love your brother don’t do this to him."
Chi Lian sighed and shook her head. "So, lost culture it will be. I will have to speak to my brother and see where his head is at though. Most importantly I was asked for my opinion and at the end of the day the emperor will personally decide."
"Maybe a certain lost empress’s crown will convince him." Ringo suggested. "You have weapons for this battle, use them carefully. If the emperor thinks that you are trying to hold him hostage he will simply use his authority to take those things from you. If things get too complicated your brother can just take on the silly Minister for happiness position. It might be better to be low key than hanging his head out high for everyone to take shots at."
"Okay, thank you for your kind advise brother-in-law," She held back a yawn and tightened the warm bath robe around her body. For a few minutes she had been fighting the urge to sleep but she could feel it in her bones that she was losing the battle.
"Are you sleepy?" Muyang asked her.
She nodded and leaned her head on his shoulder. "I am tired now." she told him.
"Come on." he carried her up, "Let’s get you to bed,"
