Chapter 509: What are they hiding?
Chi Lian’s plane touched down in the capital in the evening and she was driven straight home by old tiger and spider who were waiting for her. When they saw her, their faces had turned prickly immediately.
"Let me guess," she told them in the car, "You are unhappy because once again I went somewhere and left you behind."
"You can’t keep doing this boss." old tiger said, his hands were moving around unnecessarily as another way of additionally expressing his feelings. "You said that were are trusted men, spider and I are supposed to be by your side all the time. Why make us bodyguards if you never use us except to run errands? You should fire us if you are going to keep this up, we are becoming useless, look at my muscles, they are turning into mush."
She nodded pretentiously, as if she was taking his rant seriously. "What have the Yan’s been been up to?" They both had to supervise the team monitoring the camera feed and also go in to change the positions of the cameras because the Yan’s enjoyed redecorating. Weirdly too, they scanned their entire house for bugs monthly. Who did such a thing? The royal family she could understand but the Yan’s not really. It was not the only weird thing, they often spoke in code when it came to important conversations saying things like, ’Did you get item two? , how are the ducks?, bring the fish to that place. They were up to something, she was absolutely certain that they were up to something nefarious. Nobody went to all the lengths they were going to without having something to hide or plot. But what were they hiding?
The team was combining all these words, figuring out how often they were used and what was used to refer to a specific thing while monitoring their movements to attach a clear picture to all the cryptic wording.
"Yan Daya got information about the Da Hong Pao tree in the department of agriculture being fake. Their family is looking into it, I think someone in that department opened their mouth because the family patriarch wants to leak the news of the tree being fake to the media to force whoever took it into returning it. That Yan Daya is not stupid, she already came to the conclusion that maybe the emperor has a hand in it. So far her words do not hold water because their is no evidence, the royal butler did a good job in covering all their tracks."
Of course Yan Daya was not stupid, Chi Lian thought. She had many suspicions that the woman was behind Fu Jui, squirrel and piggy’s accident but she had no proof. Even T4 had not yet found anything leaking her to it so right now, they were tracking her assistant and brother as well.
"She has a second phone, a burner phone." Spider said, "It’s an old model that does not connect to the internet at all."
"Can we get our hands on it?" she asked him.
