Chapter 368: A wise bear
Bear remained silent for a few seconds and Chi Lian thought that perhaps her answer had somehow discouraged the very ambitious woman in front of her. Bear was a previously a manager in the Morgan group and she had been head hunted by them. One did not become a manager in a fortune five hundred company accidentally; they did so by proving to be extremely talented at their job.
"I see, my last question then is do you plan to place all your companies under one umbrella eventually? I am talking about forming Phoenix group of companies."
"Yes." Chi Lian replied instantly. "But not now however, I need to know if the companies can stand alone before bringing them together. I do not want a scenario where one branch has to fill in the gaps of another. I would rather leave them apart if that’s the case.
I have also considered just building around the media company alone and leaving the other companies to stand independently. I am sure that you know, my brothers are running those companies and they have done so successfully. I sometimes think it’s best to leave things the way they are after all, the company which I pay most attention to is the media company."
Bear surprised her by saying "Great idea. I think it’s better if you stand alone and build around your own thing because if we incorporate all the companies into one, things will become complicated in future. Your brothers will get married and maybe give their spouses some shares. Then they will also give their children shares.
You may trust your brothers but can you trust their spouses or children not to seek control of the company from you or your children?"
Chi Lian frowned at bear because she did not like what she was insinuating.
"You may not like hearing what I am saying but I am trained to analyze all scenarios of a company’s development under different circumstances. From all of my years of training I have realized that more companies collapse due to internal family struggles and greed more than lack of investments or market factors.
I am sure that you plan to leave your business to your children. I will advise you to leave eighty to one hundred percent of something than twenty or thirty percent. You have said that they are your priority so consider this a form of protection.
