Chapter 309: Hian’s interview
Because minister Su did not want anybody to realize that the emperor was here in disguise, he personally prepared a plate of food for him. He had to carry two large plates and three smaller plates over because the emperor wanted a taste of everything.
"What kind of yellow rice is this? I haven’t seen grains as fat as these before. Is it a new breed she cultivated from her lab?" the emperor asked Minister Su.
"I will make enquiries later." Minister Su answered.
"It’s quite tasty; I wonder what they added to it." He said as he ate it by mouthfuls.
"Hmm." Minister Su replied as he chewed his food with relish.
Meanwhile Chi Lian was preparing for food for madam An, since she was in a wheel chair. Since she was a guest, it would be rude to let her fend for herself.
"Sister, Hian’s interview is coming on if you want to watch." Chi Zimo came over and whispered to her.
She had been looking forward to that interview for days,
"I am coming." She told him. "Save me a seat."
She delivered food to the table where her mother, madam An, Muyang’s mother, his grandmother and the Queen dowager were sitting.
Each of the women had food already. Mei-Mei was being fed by her mother under the watchful eye of madam An.
